The Brittany / Morbihan region
Brittany is one of France’s favourite holiday destinations. There are over 600km of coastline with fabulous sandy beaches, rocky coves, dramatic cliffs, pretty harbours and offshore islands to explore. Inland there are woodlands and river valleys, and charming historic towns and villages to visit and don’t miss the prehistoric standing stones at Carnac, one of the mysterious wonders of France.
Blavet Valley area
Whatever your interests Treblavet offers the perfect place to relax and enjoy the many pleasures of Morbihan. For the family, the many beaches offer hours of endless pleasure from the safe beaches of Carnac to the Atlantic waves off the Quiberon peninsula. In the area you can go wind -surfing, sail-boarding, diving, go-karting, and quadbiking. The Golf courses of St Laurent and Rimaison are but ahort drive away with special discounts available to visitors (please ask for details).
On the cultural front for art lovers visit Pont Aven where Gaugain lived, the Pont Scorff art centre, the summer art exhibition in chapels of the Blavet Valley. The submarine pen at Lorient is one for the boys and for music lovers the Lorient Celtic festival and Vannes Jazz festival are not to be missed.
For the whole family the colourful markets of Auray, Hennebont and Vannes offer an incredible variety of local produce, notably seafoods such as mussels and oysters. But, if you don’t feel like preparing these yourself then go to one of the many restaurants that offer these local specialities. Moules frites, Oysters, Crepes and local cider.
Treblavet is just 10 minutes walk from the Restaurant du Pecheurs, and the pretty riverside path along the Blavet which is also great for post lunch bike rides! Also a famous area in the region for anglers and aspiring artists to see the fish, otters and kingfishers. There is a swimming lake and canoes can be hired (July & August) to explore the Blavet from the water. For children there is an exciting ropes course at Camors and the famous preserved 17th century village of Poul Fetan are both within a 10 minute drive.
IMPORTANT NEWS! The Tour de France starts on 5th July nearby and actually passes (500m) through the village on the 6th July, if your a cycling fan don't miss it. House is availble for these dates please enquire.
