The Tayside/Perthshire region
East Perthshire is an ideal base for your Scottish holiday. There is so much to do and see. Perthshire is a glorious blend of gentle rolling farmland, craggy upland moors and mountains and idyllic lochs. There are picturesque towns, fairytale castles such as Glamis and Balmoral and enchanting woodlands. If you like to be active there are plenty of golf courses in the local area and the world famous courses at St Andrews, Gleneagles and Montrose are all within easy reach. There is mountain biking locally, skiing at Glenshee, hill and trail walking - The Jute Store is on the Cateran Trail and the Cairngorm National Park is on the door step. There is also plenty of fishing on local rivers or on the Tay.
East Perthshire has some of the best food produce you can find. The region is famous for its strawberries and raspberries (celebrated each year with the Jampionship in September), not to mention fabulous salmon, venison and other game, lamb and beef.
And if you are looking for a base from which to explore further afield then Blairgowrie is difficult to beat: Edinburgh is 95km and Glasgow is 120km away. If you want to explore the Highlands then Inverness is 180km to the north (a couple of hours drive)
Blairgowrie is a friendly and busy little town in the heart of Perthshire. It has wonderful local shops - such as our butchers, fishmonger and deli as well as supermarkets. There are great cafes, restaurants and bars too offering a wide range of food and drink many of whom make a point of offering our fabulous local produce whenever they can.

"A Little Slice of Perthshire Perfection"
We fell in love with The Jute Store when we first saw it on the web site while planning our 2013 trip to Scotland and, to be honest, it was the sole reason for us choosing to stay in Blairgowrie. Usua… More
Thank you so much for your great review. It is very nice to have our efforts appreciated! I totally agree that one of the best things about the Jute Store is the feeling that you are miles away from anywhere, but Blairgowrie is only just a mile away! Thank you again.

"Beautiful holiday home with stunning views"
Beautiful cottage with stunning views over the river Ericht. If I had to imagine what an ideal Scottish holiday home would be like, this would be pretty close to the mark. Great kitchen and facilities, warm living room with wooden floor, stone wall, a real fire and balcony.
Amazing value for money. I cannot believe its almost comparable in cost to a hotel room, this is a large 3 bedroom property.
The jute store is in a great location, it feels like you are miles from anywhere, however it is only 1.5 miles from Blairgowrie. Blairgowrie it self is a great base with many sites only a short drive.
Thank you very much for your review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you all back again soon!

"Scottish Idyll Near the Highlands"
Our recent stay at the Jute Store at Brooklinn Mill was everything we hoped for. Situated in east Perthsire, one mile from the convenient town of Blairgowrie, it is only a little more than an hour's drive north from Edinburgh. From this base, we traveled to the Cairngorm Mountains in the eastern highlands, Balmoral Castle, Stirling Castle, Scone Palace, Blair Castle, Glamis Castle, Dunkeld Cathedral, Branklyn Gardens, Killiecrankie, the Edradour Whiskey Distillery...you can see this is a great location for day trips! Almost every window gave us enchanting views of the River Ericht tumbling down the falls to what were once 19th century mill buildings.
The Jute Store cottage itself is wonderful. Spread over two floors of living space, there are three charming bedrooms, sleeping 6, two bathrooms (one a HUGE bathroom with a surprising sunken tub and one a shower room) a large, comfortable living room with wood stove and dining area, a spacious, well-equipped kitchen with dining table, excellent television reception and WiFi. Don't forget I said that every room has views of the river and there are even balconies that offer better views. The landlords live in a separate house next door and are most helpful but not at all intrusive. We found all the makings of an afternoon tea upon our arrival: tea, coffee, cream, sugar and biscuits. The weather was very chilly during our visit or we could have taken advantage of the charcoal grill for a cookout overlooking the river. Lawn chairs and tables are also available in the basement. Our stay was perfect and we would be most happy to return. My only caution is that people with mobility limitations may find the stairs an issue.
Thank you very much for your review. We are delighted you enjoyed both the location and the house so much and hope to welcome you back some time soon.
