Invermay is a family home for rent by the week in the heart of Blairgowrie. It is close to so many places of interest that one week will be insufficient for your visit! It is a few minutes by car from the superb golf courses at Rosemount and there are numerous other courses within striking distance. For those who regard golf as spoiling a good walk, then pack walking boots, as the Cateran Trail starts in Blairgowrie and finishes 64 miles later back in the town. Or maybe just pick one or two sections of the trail such as a walk along the River Ericht in the town. If fishing for trout is more your thing, then Butterstone Loch is 15 minutes away and the non-fishers in the party can walk to nearby Loch of the Lowes to see the Osprey at the visitor centre and enjoy food at the Butterstone Loch Bistro. Do not forget all the castles and palaces in the area: Scone, Glamis, Blair, Braemar, Menzies, Balmoral, Falkland etc. You get the picture. As for trips in the car, head a bit west and a bit north and you will have Highland Perthshire in your sights; Dunkeld, Pitlochry, Blair Atholl, Aberfeldy, Kenmore and the Crannog, Killin and the Falls of Dochart, Loch Tay, The River Tay and Perth. Say no more. The land is green and the people are friendly. How about something more adventurous? Quad biking or 4x4 driving at Glenfarg is a great day out, as is St Andrews an hour from the house. Do not forget the great skiing at Glenshee 40 minutes from the house. You can even swim in the municipal pool 400m round the corner from Invermay. Whisky. Go to Scotland's smallest and prettiest distillery at Edradour. You will not be disappointed. If all that is just a tad too much, why not just go for a coffee in one of Blair's coffee shops, do a little gift shopping in town and then return to relax by the wood burner in the siting room.

The two triple rooms upstairs each have three single beds. There are 5 new Hypnos beds and are really comfortable. However, two can be pushed together to make a large double. All linen in those rooms is single as we have found guests from abroad each like to have their own feather duvet. There is, however, a double feather duvet in the downstairs double room.

Upstairs there is a bathroom with a shower over the bath. There is also a large shower room with electric shower.

The downstairs bathroom has a bath with handles and shower attachment for hairwashing. There is also a separate large electric shower with shower seat suitable for the infirm in that room. It is accessed through the dining room and utility area. It may not be suitable for wheelchairs. The house still requires to be assessed by Visit Scotland and it is likely that persons who are able to walk would find access to the downstairs bathroom easier than thouse in a wheelchair due to the slightly narrow width of the gap to the bathroom door through the utility room. It is not a problem for those without mobility difficulties.

The kitchen is totally new with all modern appliances including induction hob and double under electric ovens. However, there is also a gas fuelled Aga which heats the kitchen and can be used for all cooking. If the weather is too hot in summer, it is sometimes switched off. Not this year though! There is also a TV in the kitchen and window seat as well as two comfy chairs for those who want to observe the cooks in the party at work!

The house has been totally renovated and redecorated in 2012 and only became available in August 2012. A group of 9 Swiss visitors has just enjoyed a stay of one week with the owner and thoroughly enjoyed themselves in Scotland for the first time. They really liked the house and kept it very clean during their stay. They were perfect guests! However, it is clear that the house would be best for up to 8 people maximum and the use of the bed settee in the sitting room is not included in the number of beds.

The local swimming pool is very close to the house round the corner and bikes can be hired 5 minutes along the road. Ski hire is available in winter from a number of local shops and others on the way to Glenshee.

Further details outdoors

There is parking for several cars at the house and it is secure. The gardener comes regularly to cut the grass and keep the herbaceous borders tidy. There are plenty of shops in Blairgowrie to cater for all needs.

There are some of the best restaurants in the Perthshire area in Blairgowrie, such as Dalmore,, Littles Restaurant, Cargills. The recent Swiss visitors were very taken with food in the restaurants which they visited: It compared very favourably with the restaurants in Edinburgh during the festival.

The bright red gates should be kept closed, which parents need to be aware of as well as dog owners, since Invermay is on the Perth Road, which is also the A93 Royal Deeside Route past Balmoral Castle and goes all the way to Aberdeen.

The house is available for lets from 4 pm on Fridays to 10 am on the Friday of the following week or fortnight, depending on the number of weeks booked. Short breaks are also available if the dates are suitable.

The Perth and Kinross region

Blairgowrie is the raspberry capital of Europe! Come in summer to see the fabulous green scenery and eat the fresh berries newly picked and for sale at the roadside. The Jacobites were very active here 300 years ago. Later the River Ericht provided employment during the industrial revolution in the numerous mills situated on the riverside and water powered. Now you can walk along the riverside and admire the beautiful scenery at any time of the year.

Blairgowrie

Golf at Rosemount, Alyth, Dunkeld, Pitlochry, St Andrews, Gleneagles, Carnoustie all very close or within an hour.

Fishing for trout at Butterstone Loch 15 minutes away. On the River Tay for salmon and the Isla. On the many other Lochs between Blairgowrie and Dunkeld.

Skiing at Glenshee or the the Lecht further north. Also it is possible to ski for the day at Cairngorm and take a ride in the Cairngorm Mountain Railway, Glencoe or Nevis Range, where there is the only gondola uplift in the UK.

"Bella casa, bella Scozia"

Ho vissuto in un gruppo di dieci appartamenti della gente in Scozia. La casa in Blairgowrie è stato fatto per noi. La casa ha una grande cucina con sala da pranzo, camere da letto e bagni molti. Inoltre, la casa ha un bel giardino grande. Perché naturalmente, le grigliate non erano troppo brevi. La casa è molto centrale a Blairgowrie e solo a pochi passi a piedi si raggiunge il centro. Il padrone di casa parla un po 'di tedesco. Lei è una persona molto disponibile. In qualità di proprietario della casa si vive in Scozia, ovviamente, sa un sacco di posti e può dare buoni consigli. Quindi non esitate a chiamare!

"A top base and a top house to explore a great part of Scotland!"

We were a group of 10 persons an enjoyed the stay in this lovely house very much. Maybe with 10 persons the house is a bit packed but it worked fine as we did not need the living room and one couple had it fully for themselves. We enjoyed to sit in the dining room on the big table with comfortable chairs. It was fine to eat, to talk or to play around the table. It was our favourite place and in addition it has big windows to let the sun in and to look out in the garden. Yeah the garden is a nice place too. We could barbecue there and it is maintained well with moan and flowers. A great place to drink a tea or a beer. The kitchen is well equipped and we loved to cook there. 4 - 5 persons can stay there and work and others can observe them. It is spacious and has enough crockery. The dishwasher made it even more comfortable. Of course a wasching machine is also there. Blairgowrie is a good place to stay as in a 1.5 hour driving distance a lot of attractions and cities can be reached. The owner was very helpful when we had a question and she did always her best to fulfill our desires. It was for sure not our last stay there. Für alle, die lieber ein paar Worte in Deutsch lesen möchten, kann ich sagen, dass wir in einem gepflegten Haus absteigen durften. Es liegt ideal in Blairgowrie und hat eine gute Infrastruktur für einen angenehmen Aufenthalt. Die Schlafzimmer sind sehr sauber und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Die Küche hat alles um sich selbst zu verpflegen und ist auch gross genug, damit mehrere mithelfen können. Der Essplatz war unser Mittelpunkt, wenn wir zuhause waren und hat uns sehr gefallen. Der Garten ist in sich abgeschlossen und gepflegt. Ein schönes Plätzchen für Grillparties. Die Besitzerin spricht auch etwas deutsch und hilft wirklich gerne weiter. EInfach anrufen und dann klappt es meistens.
