The Blackwater area
Blackwater is a delightful village that offers two shops, a number of pubs and a Thai restaurant. Less then two miles away is Wexford Bay which has twenty miles of breathtaking Blue Flag sandy beaches, sand dunes and nature trails. Another beach worth visiting is the southernmost stretch of beach at Curracloe. This beach has been voted 'The best beach in Ireland' and was used in the opening scene of the film Saving Private Ryan. The pretty town of Wexford is just eleven miles from Blackwater and has beautiful narrow winding streets and a gorgeous quayside which is lined with historical buildings. Also in the area is the St Helen's golf course and the wonderful city of Waterford. The capital of Ireland, Dublin is eighty miles away and offers many shops, pubs and attractions. Blackwater is an ideal base to explore the area, which has something for everyone.
