Northern England region
The north of England may also be considered as the area (from coast to coast) surrounding the Pennines, an upland chain often referred to as "the backbone of England". This stretches from the Cheviot Hills on the border with Scotland to the Peak District. The areas defined were formerly dominated by heavy industry and mineral extraction and processing. Combined with the characteristically wild, hilly landscape of the region, this has led to the popular misconception, mainly by those from the south of England, of it being "grim up North".
It is an area of contrasting landscapes. There are several belts of urbanisation, many of which join to form one larger belt that runs from Liverpool to Leeds along the M62 corridor, then south to Sheffield along the M1 corridor. There are further agglomerations in the north-east and east of Preston. Around eleven million people live in the area covered by the Northern Way, most in its largest cities Leeds, Sheffield, Liverpool, Bradford and Manchester.
Situated on the North West coast Blackpool is known especially for its Tower. There is plenty to do for everybody whether you are couple or a family alike. Apart from Blackpool itself it is in easy reach by car of other towns like Morcombe, Fleetwood, Morcambe, Southport.
For the more adventurous there is is a ferry crossing to The Isle Of Man from Fleetwood. As for nearby, a leisurly stroll will take you to Blackpool Zoo, Model Village and Stanley Park. Fleetwood which is approx 3-4 miles away is well known for its Market which attracts visitors from all areas of Britain.
There are many attractions in Blackpool itself some of which are listed below:-
SANDCASTLE WATER PARK
NORTH & CENTRAL PIER
VIVA CABERET BAR WINTER GARDENS & OPERA HOUSE
LEGENDS SHOW BAR
GO KARTING - 2000 RACEWAY
Blackpool's nightlife? It's so reputable it's hard to know where to begin! This town has a fantastic night scene to suit all age groups and all tastes. In summery, Blackpool's night life is hot, it's thriving, it's exciting and it's extremely busy! Most of the nightlife centres around the central district of the town, but bars, clubs and restaurants can be found in all areas of Blackpool.
Blackpool has every club, bar, disco, cabaret and karaoke venue imaginable and the atmosphere in general is chilled and fun-filled. It is home to the country's first purpose built transvestite bar, Funny's Girls.
Across Blackpool there are countless events taking place and themed nights are high on the agenda with venues like Don Pepe Theme Bar. One of the more popular clubs is Club Sannuck, the Syndicate and Heaven & Hell which features popular chart music from throughout the decades classic rock, dance, global trance, indie, karaoke and even rhythm and blues. Brannigans plays similar music and appeals to the same clientele, as does the Palace and Jellies Nightclub.
If dance and trance aren't really your thing than Tache in Blackpool provides a great alternative with live music, Nu metal and rock. Flagship Showbar has an exciting atmosphere, playing music from the 70's to the 90's, brit pop, chart music and even disco. No matter where you decide to visit in Blackpool you're in for a good time.
Don't forget theirs lots of nightlife for THE OVER 40,s the best cabaret 'shows & clubs in the country! Stanley Road club, Bloomfield Club & the Talk of the Coast, south shore are great night's all with singers, comedians most nights, also Layton Institute with a full summer production show (comedian, compere, 3 singers, 4 dancers) for the unbelievable £5 entrance fee & good bar prices, great atmosphere, it's a fantastic night out, check out their website!
