The Central Ireland region

Located on the Cavan/Leitrim border the surrounding countryside varies from the outstanding natural beauty of the Cuilagh Mountains and the Glencar Falls to the Cavan Burren with the Neolithic burial chambers and sweat houses. The limestone caves of the Marble Arch contrast with the Shannon Pot ,the mystical source of the Shannon. The Marble Arch geopark embraces both Co. Fermanagh in N. Ireland and Co. Cavan and has a rich selection of lakeland and mountain landscapes.

Blacklion and Glenfarne straddle the Cavan/Leitrim Border and is the centre of activity for the area including Nevin Maguires restaurant, the Ballroom of Romance and the surrounding Geo-park. The playground on the shores of Lough McNean will entertain the children with the swings, zip line and more! Nearby fishing on the numerous lakes including Allen, Melvin, Arrow will provide both game and coarse anglers. Guide walks and electric bicycle tours to explore the wonderful countryside. Centrally locate Roo is the ideal base to venture further afield to Sligo, Donegal, Fermanagh, Roscommon and beyond, the more adventurous could reach the Atlantic Coast or Lough Key park.

"sheer peace and quite"

We stayed here with a young family in July. The owner came to meet us and we found him really nice and helpful .He has only started renting the cottage and it needs some small changes to make it 100%.… More

Many thanks for your review and appreciate the valid comments. I will provide an outside table this weekend.Unfortunately broadband is not readily available in the country and the 15Gb monthly package was the best available at the time, plenty for emails and surfing, the 8Gb used in the three days was scary as I am charged €20 per Gb over my allowance. I hope to get a 60Gb package from 3 when they take over the O2 network. I accept the hive is close to the house and can be off putting. I will move the hive up by the forest and hopefully we can offer you some heather honey next year. I enjoyed meeting you and hope to add additional features for your next visit. Best Wishes

The cottage at Roo/Rua is warm and welcoming with all modern faciliteswhich made our stay very comfortable. The location overlooking Lough Melvin and beyond is stunning. The changing light constantly reveals a new part of the amazing panoramic view. At night because there is no light pollution the starscape is truly breathtaking.
Would definitely stay again.

Many Thanks and look forward to your next visit. I think Lough McNean is the big lake. Best Wishes
