Further details indoors

The Master bedroom features a California King bed, sea view and balcony and en-suite with bath, two sinks and two showers. The two "sub-masters" have en-suites with showers. The two remaining bedrooms share a bathroom with bath and integral shower. All bedrooms (except the Master) can be configured as double or twin beds, and have two full-size pull out divans (allowing up to 4 full size beds per room). All bedrooms have solid wood floors, ceiling fans, air-conditioning, fly-screening, burglar bars and digital safes. All bathrooms have shell-stone floors and marble surfaces.

The kitchen features a fridge and a large corner chill cupboard, a dishwasher, a double oven, a toaster oven and a micro-wave. The bar features a further fridge and dish-washer, and two freezers.

With its unique forward footprint the property has sea views unparalleled on the West Coast. Being higher up than any surrounding building, it is one of the few beach properties on the lee-side of the island able to catch the prevailing breeze - a design feature essential to living comfortably on steamy tropical days. It is un-overlooked and almost entirely private (ie You can see out, but people cannot see in.)

It features two seating areas with seating for over 18, a 12 ft dining table with seating for 14, and additional seating at either bar. There is also an extensive library, an upstairs wash room and a barbecue. (There is also an additional family room on the 1st floor with two settees and a large computer desk).

Further details outdoors

The pool area is located on the 2nd floor adjoining the living area and comprises of a 30ft x 10ft pool with pool bar and a 30ft submerged bench, a 30ft x 6ft sun deck and an external shower (with a simply spectacular view).

The ground floor (not included in the rental) is rented permanently to a professional couple. They have a separate entrance, no children and no pets.

To the front of the property there is direct access onto the beach.

Two kayaks are available for use - please ask the House Manager or Housekeeper for details.

There is deliberately no TV. However there are two high speed internet feeds (on which TV feed can be watched)

The St Michael Parish region

Crowsnest II is 2.5 miles north of Bridgetown and 3.5 miles south of Sandy Lane and only 4.5 miles from both Holetown and St Lawrence.

Kensington Oval is walking distance from Crowsnest II and golf, tennis, horse riding and water-sports are all available close by.

Black Rock, Barbados

At over 1.2 miles Brighton Beach is the longest on the Platinum Coast and when put together with Paradise Beach (where the prestigious Four Seasons Resort is under construction) provides almost 2 miles of uninterrupted powder soft sand. It is the largest turtle hatchery on the island and turtles are often seen laying eggs, hatching and swimming in the surrounding waters.

Being set back 200 yards from the main road, Crowsnest does not experience the road noise suffered by most West Coast villas and because Brighton Beach is a mainly residential beach, with no hotels or apartment blocks and only a handful of properties available for holiday rental, the beach itself is almost deserted for the majority of the day/week. The water is usually calm and clear, and swimming is safe with negligible current, and a gentle slope to the sand.

Watersports are available to the north of the beach and there is a beach bar/restaurant (Weisers) 200 yards south. The nearest supermarket is half a mile behind Crowsnest, but there is no bus route to it. (The nearest bus stop is at the Supermarket).

"Go no further if you are looking for paradise!"

We'd had a group of friends homeymoon with us after our holiday and we all agreed that this property is truly excellent. Shondel (house keeper) is great and was always happy to help us with any … More

Thank you for the great review and the maximum stars throughout. We are so happy you enjoyed your stay.

Thank you also for reminding other potential guests of the need to safeguard possessions. I am sorry you had an incident; while this is a rare occurrence at Crowsnest (4 petty thefts in 8 years) there is always a potential for opportunistic theft when living on a public beach in the Caribbean. This risk is increased if people are unfamiliar with the property and area and are in a relaxed "holiday mood". It is for this reason we have installed guest safes in every room, barred all windows on the sleeping floor and stress strongly in the house manual the need for guests to follow security procedures (which include the closing of both 1st floor doors whenever rooms are not actively occupied). We note that the beach gate was also open.

We would like to reassure other guests that
* Barbados is generally very safe and we have never had a single guest say they have had any concerns about their personal safety either at the house or on the beach. Despite "opportunistic theft" being widespread (as in any tourist destination) there is almost zero "confrontational crime" on the island.
* The house was designed with security in mind; the property is gated front and back, the whole sleeping floor is secure at night and there are safes in every room for valuables.
*To achieve this theft the intruder either knew the gate code (or a guest left if unlocked) and he then had to scale over a barbed wire skirt to enter through an open 1st floor door. Given the speed of entry and route of exit it appears also that the intruder may have had some prior knowledge to the layout of the house.
* Since this incident we have changed the code on the beach gate and installed CCTV covering every external approach and entry point.

"Beautiful house on a beautiful beach!"

We recently returned from our vacation and had a fabulous time. Crowsnest II is beautiful! We were a total of 3 families; 6 adults and 6 children, and Crowsnest II was perfect. The layout was great, and the house is so spacious that even with 12 people, we never felt crowded. Crowsnest II is located on a big beautiful beach that is perfect for swimming and walking/running. My 8 year old was in the ocean everyday. Thank you for letting us visit Crowsnest II.

"Spectacular vacation destination."

Overall, one of the best vacations I have experienced. We were worried because we usually stay in resorts but this was so much better. You are situated directly on the beach. The beach is beautiful and quiet. No one bothered us to buy merchandise. It does get very hot but the roof top pool always refreshing and with the open concept, the breeze directly from the sea keeps you cool. It was so great that we rarely felt the need to leave the property. You awake to the sound of the waves and start your day with direct views of the sea weather lounging on the 2nd or 3rd floor of the building. We were 10 adults and 2 children and yet we always had lots of room, never felt cramped. The information package provided is very helpful as were all staff involved. A slice of Bajan heaven. We will definitely be returning.
