Ideally situated for a coast and country vacation, Petite Oleandre Maison is located in the centre of Bize Minervois, arguably the prettiest village in the renowned Minervois wine region. With all modern facilities and fully equipped, enjoy holidaying in this charming gite, recently renovated to ensure maximum enjoyment and ease of living. Enjoy the attractive terrace for outside dining with own barbecue, and mature oleanders framing the tranquil environment . The 8m x 4m pool is shared with owner. It is a short stroll to village shops, bar, restaurants. Soak up the beautiful weather, blue skies and famous French cuisine and acres of manicured vineyards with hundreds of local Minervois, Corbieres and Fitou wines to try.
The river Cesse runs through the village and becomes a natural swimming pool in summer, with a lifeguard on duty. Bize has all amenities including café, bar, restaurants, shops and medical services and hosts the fabulous Olive Festival in July.
Travel 5 minutes to the World Heritage Site of the Canal Du Midi, and 15 minutes to the historical city of Minerve. The Roman city of Narbonne is 12 miles away and it’s only 30 miles west to the medieval city of Carcassonne. Beziers is 20 minutes away and hosts the famous Feria de Béziers, centred around bullfighting. Every August, a million visitors are attracted to the five-day event. The stunning city of Barcelona is less than 3 hours drive door-to-door. Relax on the Mediterranean beaches, 35 minutes to the south of Bize Minervois.
Many UK Low Cost Airlines fly to within commute distance of Bize Minervois. FLYBE, RYANAIR, BMI, EASY JET, AIR FRANCE, BA. Driving takes 11 hours from the French coast, or travel with Eurostar/TGV from London to Beziers in under 8 hours.

Bize is located in a lovely area of vineyards and orchards and is just 21 km from Narbonne, 33kms from Beziers and 48kms from Carcassonne. The nearest beach resorts are a just 30-minute drive away. The Canal du Midi is just 2kms away at Le Somail. This is an ideal base for exploring this part of the Languedoc whether it be by car, bicycle, or on foot.
The village has most amenities - a boulangerie for your morning croissants and bread, a grocers, a pharmacy, a post office,restaurants and bar.
The Bize-Minervois area
There is horse-riding, tennis, boules and a children's playground in nearby villages. Cycles can be rented at the nearby village of Ginestas. Bize has a natural swimming pool in the river which also has a lifeguard during the summer months. Most watersports and swimming from the beaches can be enjoyed at the coastal resorts of Narbonne-Plage, Saint Pierre la Mer and Gruissan. Narbonne has a large leisure centre with a swimming pool, ice rink and ten-pin bowling.
There is an abundance of attractions in this area - it's hard to know where to start. But a visit to this area would not be complete without a trip to the medieval city of Carcassonne, the lively and attractive town of Narbonne, the Canal du Midi, Minerve, the beach resorts of Gruissan and Narbonne-Plage, the vineyards of the Minervois and Corbieres, the abbeys at Fontfroide and Lagrasse and the Cathar Castles. Children and adults alike will enjoy a day at the African Nature Reserve at Sigean where you can see over 3000 species of animals in close-to-nature surroundings.
Markets: The markets locally are colourful and full of lovely, local, seasonal produce as well as wine, herbs, basket ware, jewellery and more! Narbonne has a market on Thursday and Sunday mornings alongside the Canal de la Robine. It also has a fantastic indoor food market in 'Les Halles' open every morning. More locally there's a market in Olonzac on a Tuesday morning and St Chinian on a Sunday morning which is also a picturesque drive up and over the nearby hills. There is also a small market in Bize on a Wednesday morning.

By Car - Bize Minervois is situated 15 minutes to the north of Narbonne and 50 minutes to the east of Carcassonne, just off the D5 and near Le Somail. The nearest autoroute exits are no.38 Narbonne Sud on the A9 Languedocienne or no.24 on the A61 at Carcassonne . It is approximately a 10.5 - 11.5 hour drive from the channel ports in normal traffic conditions.
By Air - The nearest airports are Beziers (Ryanair) - 25 minutes - and Carcassonne (Ryanair) - 45 minutes. Other airports within easy driving distance are Toulouse, Montpellier, Nimes, Perpignan and Girona (N.Spain) - all serviced by low cost airlines from the UK and Ireland.
By Train - Fast Eurostar/TGV rail service stops at Narbonne. Also please visit www.raileurope.co.uk for details of the overnight Motorail service (summer months only).
