he Yorkshire Wolds and Vale of York are a great central location, situated just to the east of the country between the south of England and Scotland. We can't promise beautiful sunshine everyday but the east of the country does tend to have a lower rainfall.

To the west of the Wolds you will discover the popular Cities of York and Harrogate.

The beautiful coastline and seaside towns of Bridlington, Scarborough, Whitby and Filey a short drive to the East.

Bishop Wilton

The Shepherd's hut sitswithin easy reach of the recently named, 'Hockney Country'. The surrounding area is where the world famous artist, David Hockney has found much of his inspiration. Garrowby Hill, the so called 'Gateway to the Wolds', is only a minutes drive from the lodges, giving you the perfect footing to go and enjoy the wonders of the area and see where many of his stunning paintings have originated from. You may also enjoy a to visit the Robert Fuller art gallery at Thixendale.

YORK

The centre of the historic City of York is only 15 miles, a 30 minutes drive away. Attractions there include, The Jorvik Museum, The National Railway Museum, and even York Dungeons. There is York Minster, Clifford tower both steeped in history or why not walk the city walls.

MUSEUMS AND HISTORIC HOMES

Just out of town there is still plenty to do. There are numerous museums and places to explore within easy reach. There is the Yorkshire Farming Museum and the Yorkshire Air Museum – both only 15 minutes away. Or why not visit one of the fabulous Historic Houses with their surrounding gardens such as Castle Howard, Sledmere House or Burton Agnes, all only a short drive. Burnby Hall gardens in Pocklington is also worth visiting.

"Romantic Spring Dale Shepherds Hut"

Was looking for that one off place to stay to inject a little romance and found it here in 'Spring Dale Shepherds Hut'. What a beautiful quaint little place to stay; everything was just perfect with lots of little touches added to make our stay that much more special; from the little jug of fresh flowers, the home made biscuits, the abundance of cushions to the 'Little Hobbit' wood-burning stove that made the hut so cozy and warm. The bed, well what can I say, I wanted to take it home with me as it was so comfy! We loved our visitors in the evening and the morning...chickens! Even got the privilege of stroking one of the large grey ones. Will most definitely be staying again.

Thank you for reviewing Spring Dale Shepherd Hut, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us and that you liked our chickens. We will look forward to welcoming you back. Best wishes from Ruth and the team at Wolds Edge

"Wonderful relaxing peaceful"

We stayed for 3 nights and right from our arrival to leaving everything was perfect. We were greeted on arrival by Ruth who explained everything to us, showed us the shower block wish was only 25 steps from our little hut. Everything was so clean and neat, from the hut to the shower and toilet to the grounds. Ruth had provided a breakfast basket and there were fresh flowers in the hut along with the basics. A lovely log burner which due to the heat we did not use small TV,microwave, kettle and toaster all there. Had we needed them there were wellies available all new and clean, torch umbrella etc. The showers were spotless and so warm with a heated towel rail. The bed was so comfortable and cosy and the decor was Kath Kidson. We had such a wonderful time that we have already booked our next visit. Recommend the local pub and a visit to the gardens in nearby Pocklington. Loads of Apple trees about and we were invited to help ourselves to them. WIFI access free! Well done Ruth and team

Thank you for taking the time to write a detailed review of your stay at Spring Dale Shepherd Hut, it is really kind and hopefully helpful for others. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Best wishes, Ruth

Ideal for a short break for 2 or 3 people and set in a beautiful area. Not too far away from the city so it's perfect if you want to visit for a shopping trip.

Thank you for taking the time to review our Shepherd Hut, Kind regards Ruth Rowland
