About the home

Montauriol consists of 60 acres of land , a stream runs through the valley, and is the ideal setting for the pleasures of wining and dining, a bbq and a glass of wine at the terrace, overlooking the pigeonnier. The manoir is comfortable and generous with a totally French ambiance. The house with dependences has sleeping accommodation for up to 18 people, for those seeking a degree of privacy there are a separate guest house (3 sleeps) and a cottage (3 sleeps).

The manoir is a fine house, built in 1670 using the materials from the original Chateau Montauriol, which was destroyed during the religious war. Montauriols history does not mean that the property is out of touch with the 20th century. The all weather swimming pool, children's pool , tennis court and two golf holes plus all modern conveniences, which all make the property very comfortable at any time of the year.

Further details indoors:
Big log fire in the kitchen can be used, free logs provided. Your children will love the Harry potter dormitory for 5 kids (or adults). Lots of toys, games and books available, also for outdoor.
Very impressing sitting room with original features, the manor is largely furnished with French antiques. All beds are of good quality and size, mattresses and bedlinen recently bought.
Shower towels, pools towels and tea towels available.
A normal end cleaning is included.

Further details outdoors:
Large terraces around the houses with deckchairs and parasols. The all weather swimming pool can be heated, size 13.5 x 5 metres , with strong automatic safety cover, separate paddling pool. Nice play areay for your kids. All weather tennis court.

A two hole putting green and lots of games in the barn, tennis rackets and golf clubs available.
The grounds to the property are exceptional, 60 acres over half of which is natural woodland with wild deer, 15 acres of pine woodland and 10 of lawns and cut open spaces. A stream runs trough the valley. None of this land has had any artificial fertilizer or hunting for the last 35 years.

Further details

Montauriol can only be taken as a whole in July and August, but the houses can be taken individually during other months. Beds are made up upon arrival. Pooltowels, shower towels and tea towels available. Basic provisions such as herbs, soap, toilet paper and cleaning materials are provided for the first days. Cook and other staff available on request. Rent is including normal end cleaning.
Arriving time 17.00 p.m. departure time 10.00 a.m. Changeover on Saturdays.
Bigger or smaller groups on request. Please enquire beforehand for your pet, max. one per booking.,

Deposit for your reservation is 50%, the balance to be paid 8 weeks before arrival.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region

This area of South West France offers the holidaymaker more than any other region of France. It caters for all tastes, the sportsman and the energetic with 7 golf courses under an hour away. You can go hiking, rock climbing, fishing or canoeing on the Dordogne.

There is a good choice of restaurants, ranging from the small family run ones to gastronomic, the problem is where to go. The area is one of the great wines drawing upon the vinyards of Medoc, Bordeaux, Entre les deux Mers, Duras, Bergerac and Cahors.

Within a morning drive and all worth a daytrip are,: Domme, Les Eyzies, Lascaux, Les Milandes, Rocamadour, Roche St.Chrisophe and Sarlat.. And still a mass of little villages for you to discover, obviously you will find comprehensive literature and guide books for the area in the house.

The Biron / La Capelle Biron area

La Capelle Biron (4 kms) has essential shops, an English speaking doctor, a pharmacie, a post office and a few restaurants as well as a caterer. A children's activity park is also in La Capelle. You can go see the fortress of Gavaudun or try to climb the rock there. Visit the Chateau of Biron, or one of the local bastide towns and buy fresh ingredients to prepare a tasteful dinner. In Monflanquin you can find the tourist office to inform you about all local activities.

In the barn at the property you can find a table tennis, a football game , darts and lots of toys on wheels, two mountain bike are available.

A great place for a great holiday.
We have been here 10 times now and will surely come back next year. Walker fam, U.K.
The only hole in one was Montauriol!
Our second stay here - it felt like coming home.
Thank you so mcuh for a wonderfull and magic stay. We will always remember our time here, especially as we got engaged to be married at midnight in the pigeonnier bij candle light.
Once again we had a wonderful stay in your house even made apple pie with fruit from your trees.
Stop the clock and throw away your watches, time is of no impartance here...
De verwondering was nog even groot als de allereerste keer hier op het landgoed.
All going home well tanned well fed well happy apoligies for all the empty bottles...
