Villa Margarita
About the home
The accommodation consists of a particularly large and comfortable sitting room, with two large sofas and three armchairs, a baby grand piano and modern artworks. There are four large double bedrooms with full air-conditioning and two bathrooms, one with a walk-in shower. There is a wood burning stove for winter and central heating throughout the house. The fully-equipped modern fitted kitchen has highest quality finishes. There is also a round outhouse with an inside barbecue, suitable for parties and other uses, and a roof-terrace for totally private sunbathing with views of the sea.
The house is very private, set back from the road and secluded by trees, oleander bushes and a 12 foot olive hedge. Both the interior of the house and the grounds have been totally refurbished to the highest standards. There is a large, mosaic-clad, well lit swimming pool and a bougainvillea-covered terrace, a planted and well-maintained garden and outdoor barbecue, palm trees, newly-paved drive and a Yorkshire sculpture court. All of the grounds are well-lit.
The weather is very good all year round and excellent in the summer.
Feedback from guests has been universally excellent, and several families return on a regular basis. The following is feedback from our guests who stayed in 2012 :-
"We just wanted to send a quick email to say how much we enjoyed our stay at your villa. Its a beautiful place in a lovely peaceful location. The time flew by while we were away and we were sorry to pack our bags and return home. We will definitely be recommending your beautiful villa to others." Joy Deacon, Leicestershire
"We had a relaxing time whilst we were there, you have a lovely villa. The children really enjoyed the pool and the gardens. They greeted Lola every day! The weather was warm and sunny all the week for us in Menorca.
Thank you for letting us stay at your lovely villa." Deborah Higgins, North Wales
"We had a fantastic break, thank you, we loved the place and Lola always made us smile." Dan Waller, London
"We had a fantastic time in the villa and on the island, thank you. Paulo was excellent. The villa worked very well with 3 small children mainly because of the design of the pool and its shallow end. We found the kitchen crockery, utensils etc. were generous and we could really tell the difference between hiring a second home as opposed to a dedicated holiday villa. We very much hope that you will still be letting the villa for our anticipated return next summer." Harvey and Joanna Frost, Suffolk
"Just a quick email to say that we all had such a lovely holiday in Menorca. It just went so quickly!! We would very much like to book the villa for next year." Julie and David Elkington, Leicestershire
"Arrived back from Binibequer on Friday. We had a most wonderful time. Wall to wall sunshine and a great time in your beautiful villa. We loved it and it certainly measured up well against others we have stayed in. It was beatuifully clean when we arrived and had everything we needed. We enjoyed Lola's company too! We are alomost certainly going to return next year." Mark and Debbie Blagden, Sheffield
"We had a fantastic time, thank you. The house was beautiful, the location was great and your notes on places to eat out, etc were invaluable. We had some wonderful meals and really enjoyable evenings out. The only bad thing was one week was not long enough. Many, many thanks and I hope we can visit again." Nicola Reddington, Glasgow
Paolo, our English manager, tends to the security, pool and garden and manages Louise and her super-efficient cleaning and laundry team. He is always available.

Enquire nowThe Menorca region
Menorca is probably the most relaxed and peaceful of the Balearic Islands. It has a chequered history of Moorish, British and French occupation, largely due to its strategic position, with the deepest harbour in the Western Mediterranean at Mahon, which was developed as the British capital in the 18th century. Menorca is the only place in Spain to have sash-windows, and unusual in its dry-stone walling. Mahon has Spain's oldest (and extremely beautiful) opera house, based on La Scala, Milan.
There are many large ruined castles and military bases, including the massive 19th century Spanish base, La Mola, and the smaller, British, Fort Marlborough. And there is a house where Nelson allegedly lived with Emma Hamilton!
At the other end of the island is the old Moorish-Spanish capital of Ciutadella. Various interesting villages are scattered around the island, much of which is protected biosphere, and has a fascinating collection of prehistoric remains. The coastline contains some of the most glorious beaches in the Mediterranean, several of which are quite unspoiled.
The Binibeca area
Villa Margarita is located in Binibèquer Nou in SE Menorca, an exclusive area of 3- and 4-bedroomed villas - a couple of hundred yards up a gentle hill from the sea - with its lovely sandy beach, harbour, diving centre, rocky coves, supermarket and a wide range of bars and restaurants. The are public tennis courts immediately to the rear of the villa. The local area is also excellent walking and cycling country.
Binibèquer Nou is about 15/20 minutes driving time from the island capital, Mahon, or Mao (in Catalan), which has several excellent restaurants, bars and a casino, especially around the fine harbour - a centre of much yachting activity. The small town of St Lluis, is about 10 minutes away, with its array of bars, restaurants and small shops. Just north of St Lluis is a hippodrome (horse-riding and trotting races being a major island activity) and a flying club.
There is an 18-hole golf course and a riding school in the middle of the island (about 15 miles away) which is easily accessible.
There are two good summer bus services at the bottom of the street and a fun road-train, the "Punta Prima Express".

We stayed at Villa Margarita for a week in mid-April. The house itself is beautiful - totally private, screened as it is from the road by mature trees, and only a few minutes from the amazing beach.... more |
