"Lovely midweek break"
We really enjoyed our stay at The Old Farrowings. The wood burning stove made the room nice and cosy with views over Biggin Dale. We arrived late so the home made biscuits were a surprise treat. I wou… More

"Lovely little hideaway"
The Old Farrowings is a lovely little cottage in a quiet location. There is a lovely friendly pub not too far away that serves great food.
The cottage itself is perfect. The bedroom is spectacular, and spacious., and a joy to both sleep, and wake up in.
The cottage is incredibly well presented, with high quality furnishings, and nice little touches (the cookies on the kitchen sideboard were are nice surprise and treat after the long drive)
Attention to detail is great, right down to there being coffee, and washing up liquid provided (I'd bought my own just in case).
I have stayed at many cottages in the Peak District, but this is the best so far, and I will most likely be returning. If you want peace and quiet, in lovely surroundings, this is the place!
I'm so pleased you enjoyed staying in The Old Farrowings. I am just about to put a new bathroom in so hopefully if you return you will notice a few improvements. The local pub seems to be getting lots of good feedback from our guests and it is handy being able to walk over to it. Thanks very much for taking the time to review the cottage. Jane

Upon entering biggin grange you are greeted by the most immaculate grass driveway. Everything is perfectly kept and the colours of the old stone and green barn doors are beautiful. We stayed for a long weekend and were delighted with old farrowings: a very comfortable room, sheep roaming freely outside the door, an excellent wood burner and a very very well equipped kitchen (with nespresso machine to help with the inevitable hang over).
The bedroom is stunning with a vaulted ceiling and excellent bathroom. We could not recommend this cottage highly enough. The owners are lovely and very welcoming, we asked for a cup of ice and were given a sack as we were too impatient to wait for the water to freeze for a gin and tonic. Great owners and a perfect cottage in a faultless setting.
Thanks very much for the lovely review. Am so pleased you had a nice couple of days and you managed to relax from your life in London! So pleased you liked the cottage and I have just put a new larger TV ready for those autumn evenings when you just want to watch a film and curl up in front of the wood-burner. Come back and see us again when you need a Derbyshire fix! Jane

So pleased you had a good time in Derbyshire and thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are lucky having a pub in the village and also Hartington seems to get better and better which means you don't need to go far! Hope to see you again in the future. Jane

"Yet again a perfect stay....."
Having stayed at the Old Farrowings at Easter we decided to return to celebrate a birthday. Once again everything was perfect, luckily for us we had sunshine on the first day so sat on the terrace which is a great suntrap for the whole evening. The next day rained so we got to take advantage of the wood burner. Everything we could possibly need was there and we are looking forward to returning for a 3rd time next year.
Thanks for taking the time to write a review and I am so pleased you had a nice weekend. You certainly got both types of weather! Hope to see you again in the future. Jane

"Perfect Cottage, Lovely Owner, all in all highly recommended"
My stay at the Old Farrowings was to be honest, perfect. Jane couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful (there was even home made fruit cake waiting for me when I arrived! - Yum!). The cottage itself was lovely and cosy with everything that you could need - kitchen with espresso machine, fridge, cooker, microwave etc - a VERY impressive, very spacious bedroom with high beamed ceiling and a goose down duvet that made it very hard to get up in the morning, views over the dales from my private area outside where I sat with coffee and did some drawing in between throwing a tennis ball for their dog Otto. Spent the days roaring around the countryside on my Harley (close to Ashbourne, Matlock, up to Buxton etc.) and the evenings with a log fire watching films on netflix thanks to the free wifi. If you want a nice quiet holiday in beautiful countryside in a clean, modern yet old cottage conversion... this is it. Recommending it to friends already and hopefully stay again next year.
It was really nice to meet you and I loved hearing the roar of your Harley - the first one at Biggin Grange! Am glad you managed to explore the area but also have some time relaxing and enjoying the warm weather and views. Thank you very much for your nice review. Jane

"Perfect weekend in the peaks!"
A lovely homely cottage with an incredible views of the peak hills. The pictures on here do not give this beautiful place justice!...
*having the chance to play tennis on a really nice and well maintained tennis court with beautiful views all around.
*Jane and Richard were amazing, catering to all our needs! S.M to Richard going the extra yard and picking us up from the local pub, when no taxis were available!
*Having a well kept wood burner, which was lovely to relax in front of after a long walk in the Peaks.
Thrilled you had a nice few days in Derbyshire and glad my Richard was able to scoop you up from Hartington - sometimes trying to get a taxi at the weekends can be hard round here! Also you managed to get to play some tennis. Come back and see us again!

"Hospitable owners and a fabulous location"
We enjoyed our weeks stay immensely. A perfect location for walking in the dales and hills of the southern Peak District. The cottage was a welcome base with everything we needed. Our early evenings with Mungo and Otto for company on the terrace will always be remembered. Thank you once again.
I'm so pleased you had a nice week and managed to do lots of walks. We are so lucky being so close to lots of wonderful walks and I bet the dogs were hoping you would take them along with you!
