Cottage | 4 bedrooms | sleeps 8
Originally two cottages it provides plenty of comfortable living space with a sunny patio and garden overlooking fields with views of the sea in the distance. Presented in a fresh contemporary style it has a spacious sitting room with woodburner set in an Inglenook fireplace, a separate dining room, four bedrooms, a bathroom and separate shower room. The cottage is ideally located to provide a perfect base for exploring the picturesque South Hams and there are plenty of invigorating and spectacular walks along the nearby South West coastal path or the pretty Avon estuary.
Bigbury on Sea and nearby Bantham have wide sandy beaches and are a haven for surfers and lovers of water sports and you can cross over the sands at low tide to Burgh Island and enjoy a tipple in the Pilchard Inn. The yachting Meccas of Salcombe and Dartmouth are easily accessible by car, as is the Dartmoor National Park. As an added convenience an excellent village shop with an exceptional range of products, including an olive bar and wide selection of cheeses, is just a few yards away from the cottage.

The West Country region
Few areas of the UK, or even Europe, have a lure greater than beautiful South Devon. Dramatic Dartmoor gives way to rolling hills, wooded valleys and stunning coastline that never fails to leave visitors wishing they could stay just that little bit longer. While away your days in market towns and quaint villages that retain their tradition whilst now offering fine dining and excellent shopping, or leave the townships behind and head to any one of the outstanding sandy beaches that dot the South Devon coast. It's impossible not to fall in love with lazy, relaxed South Devon and it's otherworldly pace of life.
The attractive small village of Bigbury with a population of 300-400 boasts a fabulous 18 hole golf course, a good local pub, a village store and is home to 'The Oyster Shack' the well known fish restaurant. Two miles South West you will find Bigbury on Sea and the renowned Burgh Island, with its art deco hotel and Agatha Christie/Poirot connections, along with its pub - The Pilchard Inn, dating back to the 14th century, a favourite haunt for smugglers, and where time almost seems to have stood still. This wonderful, unspoilt little island has been featured in many films, is a natural bird sanctuary and can be reached on foot at low tide, or by the very tall Burgh Island Sea Tractor at high tide.
