Home description

Scratching Post Chalet is one of the most sought after properties on the mountain! Its the perfect retreat for families or groups - with a first class ski in / ski out location, close proximity to both the village centre and Happy Valley and tasteful interior, guests want to return year after year.

Located in the prestigious White Forest Estates, this superb collection of single family homes has always been considered the premier address in Big White. There are no condo buildings here - just luxurious, well maintained individual homes.

The accommodation comprises 4 bedrooms (master with en-suite), a kids bedroom /den, a TV / media loft, 3 full bathrooms and open plan kitchen / diner / living room. Theres an 8 man hot tub on deck and ski access is right across the road. The chef's kitchen has a large centre island, granite countertops, butler's pantry, top of the line appliances and is ideal for entertaining. A luxurious master suites boasts its own fireplace, high ceilings, deluxe ensuite with soaker tub and steam shower with seat plus a huge walk in closet.

The chalet is beautifully presented with large wood pillars throughout and has an authentic Canadian design. The high ceilings in the main living area and floor to ceiling windows takes full advantage of the incredible views over the surrounding mountain range. The position of our home means that early birds are often rewarded with views of breathtaking sunrises over the Monashee Mountains.

Scratching Post Chalet really comes into its own for families. With the kitchen and great room on the first floor, downstairs you'll find a large den area which is really popular with kids of all ages. Here there are 2 x bunk beds (both with pull out trundles allowing up to 6 to sleep) Plasma TV, Playstation 2, CD player and books and games. Kids can just hang out and have fun in their own space while adults can enjoy some quiet, time upstairs!

There's also a loft area (overlooking the great room) which has the 52" plasma screen TV, DVD player, sofa and bean bags. So anyone wanting to chill out with a movie can do so without interfering with other guests.

These 3 separate living spaces means our home is also ideal for groups, although it should be remembered that Scratching Post Chalet is located in the beautiful White Forest Estates - a prestine area which is a quiet zone and therefore a 11:00 pm quiet time is enforced.

Theres a garage big enough for 3 cars too.

It's the Snow!
It's no wonder that Big White Ski Resort is the second largest ski and snowboarding resort in British Columbia and is Canada's largest ski-in, ski-out village. Just 45 minutes from the Kelowna International airport and a short flight from Vancouver.

Big White offers the perfect skiing conditions. With an average annual snowfall of 24.5ft there's no shortage of fresh champagne powder, yet the climate is mild and dry. Check out the current snow conditions for Big White at http://www.bigwhite.com/mountain_showSnowReport

Big White Ski Resort overlooks the majestic Monashee Mountains and has over 2,565 acres of ski-able terrain covered with champagne powder snow. You can choose from 112 wide glades or tightly treed ski runs, but that's not the end of the story. There are many glades and bowls where you can pick your own way down.

If snowboarding is your style try out the new Telus Park, with its border cross course and brand new Superpipe. And don't forget the 25 km (15.5 miles) of Nordic ski track. Big White has on average 7.5 meters (24.5 feet) of snowfall per year with an average temperature of -8C (17F).

Want to take a break from skiing/snowboarding? The resort also has the Mega Snow Coaster - Canada's largest snow ride that is fun for the whole family. Or try something different such as snowmobiling, sleigh rides, skating and snowshoeing. Then you can warm up with a hot coffee or some great food in one of the 14 restaurants/coffee bars and 5 pubs that Big White has to offer.

Round off your day with a little shopping in one of our many on-mountain stores which include snow sports stores, grocery store, liquor store, and video rental outlet.
