The West Country / Devon region
Westward Ho! is the only place in the country to be named after a novel and to have an exclamation mark after it's name. The novel was written by Charles Kingsley and followed the adventrues of Elizabethan seafarers. The village of Westward Ho! is fronted by an amazing 2 mile long sandy beach and has been a family holiday destination since the Victorian times. Ideally located to see some of the most spectacular coastal areas in Devon - Clovelly, Hartland, Croyde Bay and Illfracombe to name but a few. The town of Barnstaple is 9 miles away and Bideford, just down the road. The little fishing village of Appledore is a couple of miles away with it's quaint little streets and fishermen's cottages.
The Cornish coast is about 25 miles away - Bude being the nearest large Cornish holiday town.
Bideford / Westward Ho area
Northam Burrows is just opposite the end of the road and the famous Links Golf Club (Royal North Devon Golf Course I'm informed is it's correct name!) a few yards away. The visitors centre gives information on the area's history and walks and talks are available. The pebble ridge separates the beach from the Burrows and in the summer the traditional Pot Walloping festival takes place there! Fabulous coastal walks along the cliffs at Westward Ho and the views are terrific. There is horseriding nearby and surfing is of course one of the most popular activities in this area.

There is a double bedroom, fitted kitchen, modern shower room with power shower and new conservatory adding extra space for dining or sitting. The open plan living area has comfortable seating with satellite TV and DVD.
Further details outdoors: Parking is provided opposite the property and the bungalow is tucked away across from an attractive grassy area. The front garden is lawned with shrubs and pots and there is seating for two in the sun! At the back are bench seating and loungers.
