Home description

This is a privately owned chalet, on the edge of Bideford Bay Holiday Park, with a stretch of grass in front, then nothing but steep wooded cliffs between the chalet and the sea. In season (easter - end october) the site has many facilities including a shop, indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools, all weather sports court, reception, launderette, children's play area, adventure playground, crazy golf, and organized activities and entertainment.

Out of season it is a nature lovers and walkers delight, the surrounding woodland is managed by the Woodland Trust and the Park itself has a David Bellamy Conservation award. Site facilities are closed from November to late March and the site is very quiet. A shop and post office are available at Bucks Cross when the site shop is closed.

Devon is a popular holiday destination with a mulititude of attractions, beaches and great places to eat.

Bideford / Bucks Cross area

The North Devon coast around Bucks Cross is mainly wooded cliffs with rocky bays and pebble beaches, some have low tide sand. 8 miles to the west is Hartland Abbey, where the new BBC production of Sense and Sensibility was filmed, with the rugged and spectacular coast with rolling Atlantic surf and small tucked away beaches, Just 7 miles east is the sandy surf beach of Westward Ho, and the North Cornwall sandy surf beaches of Bude and Widemouth Bay are within 30 minutes drive away.
Just 2 miles away along the coastal footpath is the picturesque fishing village of Clovelly with it's cobbled streets, picturescue harbour and visitor centre, (3 miles by road) and the Milky Way theme park is only 2 miles away.

How to get there

By car: leave M5 at J 27 and follow N Devon Link Rd passing by Barnstaple and Bideford, following signs to Bude A39. Bucks cross is on main rd about 7 miles after Bideford.
By train and bus: Train to Barnstaple from Exeter, then local bus 319 direct to Park entrance, then 5 minutes walk to chalet.
By air, fly to Exeter or Bristol airport, then car hire recommended.

Further details indoors:
The chalet has 2 small bedrooms, with panel heaters. 1 double bedroom and 1 twin bedroom. There is just room to fit a travel cot between the beds in the twin room, no room for a cot in the double bedroom.
The chalet is ideal for 4, but there is a double sofa bed in the living room, so could sleep up to 6 if you don't mind a squash. The living room only has comfy chairs for 3 at the moment.
The chalet is modern and light, furnished to a higher standard than the usual chalets on the park.
Parking is close by, about 50 yards away, with a level access by footpath to the chalet, with no steps, making it accessible for wheelchairs although the chalet is not adapted for wheelchair use.
At the moment there is a small bath, no shower, and separate WC.

Further details outdoors:
The Chalet is located in one of the best situations on the Park, right at the edge of the park but within a couple of minutes walk of all the main facilities, the swimming pools, sports court, reception, Manor house and Park shop.
In season the site has indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools, shop, adventure playground, crazy golf, amusements and evening entertainment, a pass is needed for the facilities and this is included in the charge.
Out of season the playgrounds and all weather sports pitch are available unless there is maintenance work taking place, but other facilities are closed.

£100 deposit needed to confirm the booking.
Full payment due 3 months before holiday starts.
Payment by Paypal, bank transfer or postal order for short notice bookings, cheques also acceptable for advance bookings.
Special rates/discounts may be negotiated out of school holidays eg for 2 person occupancy.
