This is a privately owned chalet, on the edge of Bideford Bay Holiday Park, with a stretch of grass in front, then nothing but wooded slopes between the chalet and the sea. In season (easter - end october) the site has many facilities including a shop, indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools, all weather sports court, reception, launderette, children's play area, adventure playground, crazy golf, and organized activities and entertainment. Passes are needed to use some of the facilities and for the entertainment programme.

Ideal for 4 but expandable to 6 using sofa bed.

Out of season it is a nature lover's and walker's delight. The surrounding woodland is managed by the Woodland Trust and the Park itself has a David Bellamy Conservation Award. Site facilities are closed from November to late March and the site is very quiet. A shop and post office are available at Bucks Cross when the site shop is closed.

The chalet has 2 small bedrooms with panel heaters - 1 double bedroom and 1 twin bedroom. There is enough room to fit a travel cot in the twin room.

The chalet is ideal for 4, and there is a double sofa bed in the living room so could sleep up to 6.

The chalet is modern and light, and equipped to a higher standard than the usual chalets on the park.

Parking is close by, about 50 yards away, with a level access by footpath to the chalet and no steps, making it accessible for wheelchairs or pushchairs (the chalet is not adapted for wheelchair use).

There is a small bath with electric shower over and separate WC.

It is a no smoking chalet.

The chalet is located in one of the best situations on the Park. It is right at the edge of the park but within a couple of minutes walk of all the main facilities: the swimming pools, sports court, reception, Manor house and Park shop.

In season the site has indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools, shop, adventure playground, crazy golf, amusements and evening entertainment. There is also a kids club for children. A pass is needed for some of the facilities and for the entertainments. There is an additional charge for this.

Out of season the outdoor playgrounds and all weather sports pitch are normally available but other facilities are closed.

The West Country region

Devon is a popular holiday destination with a mulititude of attractions, beaches and great places to eat.


The North Devon coast around Bucks Cross is mainly wooded cliffs with rocky bays and pebble beaches, some have low tide sand. 8 miles to the west is Hartland Abbey, where the BBC production of Sense and Sensibility was filmed, with the rugged and spectacular coast with rolling Atlantic surf and small tucked away beaches, Just 7 miles east is the sandy surf beach of Westward Ho, and the North Cornwall sandy surf beaches of Bude and Widemouth Bay are within 30 minutes drive away.

Just 2 miles away along the coastal footpath is the picturesque fishing village of Clovelly with it's cobbled streets, picturescue harbour and visitor centre, (3 miles by road) and the Milky Way theme park is only 2 miles away.

"Very good position on the park"

The chalet is 2 mins from the facilities which a big bonus on a large hilly site.
Its well equipped and clean.
The sofa is very uncomfortable and the beds are very hard.

Plan to replace the sofa bed for 2013 season

"Nice relaxing stay"

+ The accomodation was very well equiped, clean and in a great location in the park and in close reach of all the great places to visit in North Devon.
The holiday park felt very warm, welcoming and great for families.
The entertainment was good(we even had an outdoor music festival on the sunday, great fun for all) and the staff very friendly, helpful and full of energy.

- The premises felt a bit compact with one hall for all activities(meals, children clubs, and evening entertainment) and would benefit from further development.

"Lovely family holiday"

We had a lovely family holiday with our two young children and a baby.
Would recommend. Lynette was very easy to deal with. The chalet was as described, clean and tidy and had everything we needed. It had a great location on the site, secluded but near to the Manor house, children's play area and swimming pools. In a lovely part of Devon with lots to see and do. Westward Ho! beach was ideal for bodyboarding and safe for the children. The nearby Buck's Mill beach was ideal for rockpooling and Appledore was great for fish and chips, locally made icecream and watching the boats. The boys enjoyed the nearby Milky way theme park. Shopping was easy with an Asda and outlet village just down the road.
We'd love to come again soon

"a very comfortable with all you could want chalet"

In a great location this is a chalet which is definitley value for money. It had everything we needed for a weeks stay. Very clean and comfortable. Being on a holiday park we had use of the Manor House facilities. Being vegetarian we found that the Manor House had a good selection of vegetarian options on the menu. The chalet is situated in an ideal location to use as a base to explore North Devon, close to Bideford and Barnstaple. We found that Barnstaple had a couple of great restaurants for vegetarians including an italian and a mexican place.
The owner is very accomodating and very helpful. If we go North Devon again we will definitely be lloking to rent again.
