The Taw and Torridge estuary at Barnstaple / Bideford is popular for sailing and water sports being enhanced by the Tarka Trail which runs alongside connecting Braunton with Torrington via Barnstaple. Other attractions in the area include a choice of golf clubs including the renowned Royal North Devon Course on Northam Burrows a superb location for the country’s oldest club. A selection of well known sandy beaches which include Woolacombe, Croyde, Putsborough and Saunton the nearest of which is the blue flag beach of Westward Ho! and the national parks of both Exmoor and Dartmoor are all within an hours drive.
