The village of Weare Giffard nearby follows the beautiful River Torridge for over a mile and was featured in the film 'Tarka the Otter'. Just over a mile away the Tarka Trail provides miles of magnificent walking and cycling (four cycles available for guest use). Lovely woodland walks can also be enjoyed from the apartment and a public bridleway with direct access to the river Torridge sits opposite the property. Just a 40 min stroll away the charming village pub offers meals, and the village green with children's playground and cricket pitch is a comfortable walk further on.

The West Country / Devon region
A holiday in North Devon will not disappoint. It has some of the most stunning coastlines and beaches in Britain and boasts rolling hills a plenty. North Devon's diversity is reflected in the towns and villages that make up this unique area. The area caters for every type of visitor, whether you prefer sleepy hamlets hidden amongst the rolling hills, traditional market towns or vibrant coastal resorts offering a wide range of amenities.
Bideford / Weare Giffard area
WEARE GIFFARD - A classic street village on the eastern bank of the River Torridge. It has a long and fascinating history and a rich present and glowing future. Tarka Otter country at its best. 20 mins walk / 30 mins to pub.
CLOVELLY - Step back in time at the picturesque 14th Century harbour. The beach is a pebbled beach set in the middle of the peaceful harbour. 30 Mins Drive
INSTOW - Pretty estuary village which lies on the banks of the River Torridge. Its wonderful scenic views make it a favourite haunt for artists whilst fishermen enjoy catching bass! It is also a place for watersports and sailing enthusiasts. 15 Mins Drive
APPLEDORE - Where the River Torridge & River Taw meet the Atlantic. The village is full of history, with watch towers, look-outs, a smugglers tunnel, fishermen's cottages, captains' houses and a quay overlooking the meeting point of the two rivers. Away from the quay the narrow streets, hidden lanes and cobbled courtyards preserve the intriguing history and transport the imagination back through the centuries. 15 Mins Drive
WESTWARD HO - On a narrow strip of land beneath the wooded hillside and golden sands of Bideford Bay, lies this wonderful little seaside resort that has been a popular family holiday destination since Victorian times. The village is fronted by over two miles of golden sand and is protected by the famous pebble ridge and long promenade. 15 Mins Drive
BARNSTAPLE - Barnstaple is the commercial centre of the region, combining sophisticated shopping with the bustling atmosphere of markets and speciality shops. The modern Green Lanes Shopping Centre compliments the traditional Pannier and Craft Markets held since 1855 in the Pannier Market Hall. Around every corner there are pretty little alleys and courtyards, as well as the unusual Butchers Row, a line of open fronted shops selling speciality foods from meat and fish to laver and traditional clotted cream. 25 MIns Drive
