The West Country region

Sue and Les extend a warm welcome to visitors seeking quality no smoking accommodation in rural peaceful surroundings, an ideal place to stay when visiting North Devon.

Orchard Stable,is ideally situated for exploring Devon, only three miles from the Atlantic Highway giving access to a wealth of popular attractions, the Atlantic coast and its many beaches, and within easy reach of the rugged landscapes of Dartmoor, Exmoor and Bodmin Moor.

For shopping the popular market towns of Bideford and Torrington, with their famous pannier markets are close by offering an array of good pubs, shops and restaurants. The villages of Buckland Brewer and Littleham are a short drive away and both offer a good village pub, plus the larger town of Barnstaple and the city of Exeter are all within an hours drive.

Alternatively, bring your own or hire bicycles and cycle traffic free on the converted railway track known as the Tarka Trail and stop for a drink or bite to eat at one of the many watering holes en route.

And after a busy day exploring unwind and relax with a lazy BBQ and cool drinks on Orchard's enclosed South West facing terrace overlooking the fantastic countryside.

The town is on a hill overlooking the river and a lovely old bridge, each of the 24 arches are a different size. There are scenic walks from Bideford along the river and the Tarka Trail inland to Torrington or towards Barnstaple along an old railway track. Cycles can be rented for all the family just over the bridge. Along the one mile quayside of Bideford you come across the Lundy booking office for MS Oldenburg trips this then leads you to Victoria Park with excellent children's play area and out door paddling pool and the Burton Art Gallery

Two miles of safe family friendly sandy beach known as the Golden Bay, and is famous for its Pebble Ridge. Holidaymakers and locals alike enjoy bathing, surfing, canoeing, and kite surfing - just a few of the sports practiced here. The South Western Coastal Path runs through Westward Ho! and the Tarka Trail is close by - a must for cyclists and walkers which lies between the beach and Northam Burrows Country Park. Here you will find the Royal North Devon Golf Course and a large area of sand dunes home to a rich variety of birds, insects and wild flowers. Horses, cattle and sheep graze on the Burrows as they did on common land in days gone by.
