The West Country / Devon region
Devon ( /ˈd?v?n/) is a large county in southwestern England. The county is sometimes referred to as Devonshire, although the term is rarely used inside the county itself as the county has never been officially "shired", it often indicates a traditional or historical context.
The county shares borders with Cornwall to the west and Dorset and Somerset to the east. Its southern coast abuts the English Channel and its northern coast the Bristol Channel and Celtic Sea. The name "Devon" derives from the kingdom of Dumnonia, which was home to the tribe of Celtic people who inhabited this area of the southwestern peninsula of Britain at the time of the Roman invasion in AD 43.
The Bideford / Abbotsham area
Abbotsham is a short walk away from the dramatic National Trust coastline which includes a shingle beech, superb panoramic views and miles of clifftop coastal walking.
The sandy srf washed beach of West Ward Ho! including shops and restaurants, riding stables and famous links golf course are just a 1-2 miles away. The Elizabethan port of Bideford is 2 miles away.

Wonderful week here with my wife and 2 children (6 & 4 at the time). Great location, very spacious and lovely owners.
Contacted owner via trip advisor early Friday evening, got a call within 30 minutes, booked and went the next morning, so great communication from the owners.
Our boys enjoyed meeting the chickens and the fish and the fresh eggs were wonderful....thank you Janice and Sean.

We really enjoyed the holiday, Janice and Sean were very helpful, the place is really clean and spacious, so you can spread out on a rainy day in a lovely big kitchen and two small living rooms. There is great countryside, easy access to the coastal path with stunning views and miles of exciting walking trails. Suits people who like a mixture of outdoors pursuits ( surfing in Westward Ho, cycling or walking down the Tarka trail and walking along the coast.) Plenty of sights to see and picturesque villages to explore.
