The West Country / Devon region

A holiday in North Devon is full of contrast - from some of the most stunning coastlines and beaches in Britain to the wilds of remote Exmoor and the traditional rolling hills of Tarka Country.

Throughout the year these diverse landscapes change and adapt to the seasons - the climate in the South West is the mildest in Britain, prompting the early arrival of snowdrops, primroses and wild daffodils in the Spring, creating hedgerows of fuschias in the summer and forming the rich golden russets of Autumn.

North Devon's diversity is also reflected in the towns and villages that make up this unique area. The area caters for every type of visitor, whether you prefer sleepy hamlets hidden amongst the rolling hills, traditional market towns or vibrant coastal resorts offering a wide range of amenities, North Devon will not disappoint!

Bideford area

Bideford is a lovely little town situated on the River Torridge. It boasts a Pannier Market and Butchers Row where local farmers still bring their dairy produce to sell and many craft stalls. There are many delightful places to eat and drink and lots of interesting shops to browse.

The Tarka Trail is a traffic-free cycle path situated just the other side of the river where you can cycle/walk for miles. There is also a bike hire shop situated there.

You can book boat trips to Lundy Island from the new marina.

Other local attrations include the Great West Coastal path with some fantastic walks and amazing diverse scenery, many beautiful beaches and pebbled coves, Exmoor National Park, Lynton & Lynmouth, Clovelly, Appledore, Hartland Quay, kids parks such as the Milky Way and The Big Sheep and a big retail outlet The Atlantic Shopping Centre for shopping enthusiasts! There is an endless range of activities to keep you and your family amused for days on end.
