The Barns sit within a peaceful & secluded setting & enjoy amazing views over the surrounding countryside. The South West Coastal Path is within 150 meters, providing uninterrupted cliff top & coastal walks along it's rugged coastline, renowned for its dramatic scenery and breathtaking sea views & shipwrecks . It's also close to many stunning & secluded sandy & rock-pool beaches. The Barns are a courtyard of former Victorian Monastery buildings that have been beautifully converted to a very high standard over the past 3 years, to form 4 exclusive & unique self catering properties. The courtyard is laid to cobbled & slate, with beautiful raised flower beds, including Fig & Ornamental Artichoke, sitting within 4 acres of gardens & meadow land with a charming stream fed pond. Ideal location for birdwatchers & nature lovers
Clovelly Barn is a light and airy two storey barn conversion facing down the valley, providing living room/dining room area with vaulted ceiling and exposed wooden roof trusses, wood flooring throughout, an antique log burner, separate fitted kitchen with rustic tiled floor and built in security stair gate. Ground floor master bedroom (double bed) with exposed stone wall and panoramic countryside views over the valley. At first floor level is a twin bedroom with skylight to panoramic countryside views and a shower room (baby cot, highchair & bath available on request). (Sleep: 4 / also able to accommodate a baby) ALSO AVAILABLE AT A REDUCED RATE FOR COUPLES.

There are benches for dining & a love swing set by the pond and ample lawn for children to play.
We have resident ducks & bantam chickens and children are welcome to help feed & collect the eggs daily.
The surrounding unspoilt countryside is the ideal location for birdwatchers & nature lovers.

The Barns are 3 miles from the A39 (Atlantic Highway) on the boarder between Devon & Cornwall.
So giving easy access to both North Devon and Cornish coastlines, beaches and seaside resorts such as Bude, Widemouth Bay, Instow, Appledore, Boscastle and legendary Tintagel as well as King Arthur's Castle. The picturesque fishing ports of Clovelly, Bideford & Padstow, home to Rick Stein's restaurant empire are all within easy reach.
Plus many fabulous attractions for both young & old, from gardens, cream tea's & manor houses, to children activity centres and surf schools.
Southole Barns are located in the small hamlet of Southole within the Parish of Hartland and 1.5 mile from unspoilt Welcombe Mouth Beach. The village of Welcombe is less than 1 mile away with its Church, Village Hall, Pottery, our Community Shop and a Thatched Public House 'The Old Smithy Inn' which is well known for good food within the area.

"Very peaceful location"
We stayed for one week in Clovelly Barn. It is very well located for walking the Coastal Path in North Devon/Cornwall. The barn is well furnished and equipped and we were made very welcome by the owner.
I would recommend this barn to anyone, especially walkers and people who want to get away from the crowds.

"something about this place is just right"
I've been to Southoles before, with my two daughters, one 13 one 6, and for me both visits have been very special. I live a pretty frantic life and Southoles is the perfect antidote. The kids love it for different reasons, and I love it because they love it and because it feels off the map a bit, by which I mean, its 10 mins from the Atlantic Highway and therefore offers great access to all north Devon/Cornwall has to offer but you have no sense of crowds, or traffic or tourist traps. To cap it all, Seldon and Alison who run the place are wonderful, not intrusive at all, and keep the place in really great shape.
