"Great for a young family"

We stayed as a family of 5. Our children are 7 year old twins and a 2 year old. The barn was ample in size and the beds very comfortable. There was also a hair dryer, washing machine and tumble dryer … More

Thank you for your feedback related to your recent stay. We do not advertise central heating or an open log fire. We have electric radiators in the rooms as all the electricity for the Barn is generated from solar panels. Solar power helps to slow/stop global warming and is considered environmentally friendly because the sun is a natural energy source that does not require the burning of fossil fuels and the associated air emissions. In addition, it is considered renewable since the energy produced from the sun does not deplete any natural resources, and will never run out. With regards to decor, we have a rolling three year programme and we are sorry that on this occasion it did not come up to your expectations. However, we are pleased that you enjoyed your holiday and that you would recommend us to your best friend.

My family went there last week ,what a find, the Barn was lovely and clean and tidy, and the hosts Kaye Roy and family were very helpful, and Kaye and Roy's son was very polite and helpful and helped the young men who are special needs enjoy their stay and we have already booked to go back next Easter, would highly recommend this lovely place.

"Great Family Holiday in Beautiful Setting"

I wasn't sure about booking this holiday at first as there was no TripAdvisor review and didn't know if it would be good or not for our family of 3 young boys. All of my fears were put to rest when we arrived. Kaye and her family were so welcoming and friendly. The Barn was spacious, clean and quaint. It definitely had a country feel to it and a warm homeliness.

There was a lounge downstairs with enough seating for 6 people, a tv, dvd player and also a table football for the kids which they really enjoyed. There was also a kitchen, utility room with a washer, dryer, iron and ironing table. There was also another bedroom and a toilet with shower downstairs. There is also a dining room adjacent to the kitchen with a table and chairs.

Upstairs there were 2 bedrooms, one with 2 single beds which was lovely and airy with sky lights and an ensuite bathroom. There was also a very nice large bedroom with a double bed, dressing area/table, sofa and ensuite shower/toilet. All of the bedrooms had televisions as well. There was ample space for my family of 5.

The location of The Barn is excellent. It overlooks Bideford Bay and there is a wonderful view as soon as you step onto the property. The owners also have a small man-made lake on the property which is beautiful. They provide a boat and life-jackets to guests so that they can row on the lake. My husband and children loved this and it was a great experience for them.

There is also a collection of various animals (from goats to owls) that they keep on the grounds. The owners' son gave us a tour and showed us the animals which our children absolutely loved. There is also a woodland playground on the grounds which is great for kids as they enjoyed playing on the monkey bars. There is also a trampoline outside which my kids loved and made very good use of. Overlooking the bay and the lake is also a large patio table and chairs which makes a lovely place to sit out on a warm evening whilst taking in the beautiful views.

What was also great about The Barn was that it was near to the main road, the A39, which provided easy access to all attractions and amenities. There is a Morrisons about 8 miles away in Bideford for stocking up on your essentials and a small village shop/Post Office about 1/2 mile from The Barn. We also went to The Milky Way, a great theme park our children loved, which kept them busy all day long and was only a 5 minute drive from The Barn. There is also the beautiful beach and village at Bucks Mills which is only about a 2 minute drive away. You park your car and walk into the village which was absolutely stunning. We also went to the beautiful and historic fishing village of Clovelly which was also less than a 10 minute drive away. This was an amazing village and I would highly recommend going there. There is also a great restaurant called The Mad Hatter which was about a 5 minute drive away which had good food, was very reasonable and catered for children as well.

There were lots of things for both the children and adults to do which kept them busy and us happy. The scenery, things to do and food in North Devon are amazing. We also went to Padstow in Cornwall for the day which was about an hour, 20 minute drive but was well worth it.

Overall it was a great family holiday and we are so glad we booked it. Kaye and Roy are very friendly and welcoming and so are their 3 very polite sons. Nothing was too much trouble and they went the extra mile to make sure we had a good stay. One evening when returning from a day out, they even surprised my children with an Easter egg hunt! As I said, nothing was too much trouble and they were great hosts. The Barn was definitely good value for money and our family would definitely book there again.
