The South East England region

Kent, known as The Garden of England, is a beautiful county, full of stunning gardens, quaint villages, beautiful coastline and all set in a picturesque landscape.

Charming beaches - many of which achieve Blue Flag status, stretch from Whitstable, renowned for its Oysters, to Dungeness, known for its RSPB Nature reserve.

The North Downs/ Pilgrims Way extends from the White Cliffs of Dover to Surrey and are an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, along with the Kentish Weald, all beautiful to explore whether on foot, cycle or by car.

No visit to Kent would be complete without a visit to Canterbury, with its UNESCO World Heritage Cathedral & the heart of religious England for 1,400 years.

So whether you wish to visit stately homes, castles, gardens, seaside resorts, country pubs, golf courses or vineyards, the county of Kent, really does have something for everyone.

Biddenden

Appleshaw Loft is at the end of a quiet country lane in Dingleden just a 3 minute drive from the pretty Wealden village of Benenden. There are 3 country pubs with great food and gardens in Benenden and Iden Green. There is a local farmers market in Rolvenden, and in Woodchurch, the Rare Breeds Centre, which is a perfect day out for the family. Biddenden Vineyard and Chapel-down Vineyard in Tenterden are a short drive away and offer wine tasting tours and the chance to purchase English wines and apple juices. There is a very nice upmarket restaurant at Chapel-down and likewise The Curlew in Bodiam and Apicius in Cranbrook.

A short scenic drive through the Kent countryside and there are many National Trust properties, gardens and places of interest to explore. Leeds Castle described as, 'the loveliest castle in the world', is a great day out and activities for children are ongoing during school holiday periods. Sissinghurst Castle, Bodiam Castle, Pashley Manor, Chartwell, Finchcocks and many others are all within easy reach, you could visit somewhere new every day. For the more adventurous Bedgebury Pinetum and Bewl Water are close by, take your bikes or hire locally.

Cranbrook is 5 minutes drive, Tenterden 10 minutes and the beaches of Camber Sands and Dymchurch are a 30 minutes drive. If you fancy a day trip to France, the channel crossing at Folkestone means you can be in France within half an hour. London is one hour by train from Staplehurst if you wish to visit the capital. The beauty with the location of Appleshaw Loft is, you are really never far away from something to do.
