Quarterdeck Cottage is a lovely converted single storey farm building located in the grounds of the current owners own home. Perfect for couples, it is located 1.5miles from the Kent village of Biddenden in an idyllic rural location, the cottage, although adjacent to the owner's property benefits from its own secluded private decked area overlooking the stunning lake. This attracts a wealth of bird life and is stocked with fish; it is particularly attractive in spring and summer when flowers and plants are in abundance. The local area offers superb countryside and lovely local villages and historic attractions to explore. Biddenden village is also home to the renowned Michelin star restaurant, The West House.

Please note: This property is not suitable for children or dogs due to the close proximity of the lake.

The cottage has been converted to an extremely high standard and offers a perfect couples only retreat at any time of year. On arrival through the main gates the cottage is found to the right side of the gravelled courtyard and is accessed through a side door which opens into the kitchen area. This is furnished with all new appliances including an electric oven and hob, small undercounter dishwasher, a fridge with 2 drawer freezer and a microwave. There is a kettle and a toaster and an excellent selection of tableware and cooking equipment should you wish to cook a full meal during your stay. The kitchen area has a wooden gateleg table and 2 chairs which provide a comfortable place to sit and enjoy breakfast or an evening meal while admiring the view across the lake.

Through the door from the kitchen into the main living and sleeping area which has full width sliding patio doors opening on to a part paved, part decked area built over the water. The top quality beds, which can be left as 2 singles or zipped to make a superking size, have seasonal duvets and crisp cotton bedlinen and face the sliding doors allowing for a stunning wake up view over the water which is edged with ancient oaks and pretty marginal plants.

This room also has a 2 seater sofa and side table, 32” wall mounted TV with DVD and Freesat, ipod dock and a nice selection of books and local guides. The property is well insulated and heated by electric radiators in each room giving a very cosy feel throughout.

The bathroom at the far end of the living area has a bath with powerful overhead shower as well as a separate handheld mixer tap and shower. Sink with cabinet and shaver point, WC and heated towel rail with shelving above allows for a small but fully functional room. Outside of the bathroom is a full height built in cupboard with shelf above and hanging space for clothes. The decked area accessed from the patio doors has a wooden side gate opening back into the drive way but is fully secluded from the neighbouring property and has a wooden table and chairs and sun loungers for warmer days to enjoy relaxing with a cold glass of wine overlooking the lake!

Two Free car parks, 1 with Public Toilets by the Post Office and the other bigger car park in the Recreation Ground.

Latticed windowed Flemish weavers cottages stretch the full length of the south side of the High street, which is flanked on both sides by fossilized stone quarried long ago from near by Bethersden from which it gets it's name [Bethersden marble].

A village not just famous for its pretty street but on the village green stands a most attractive sign, carved and painted by a local crafts man, of a pair of twins, known as the Biddenden Maids.

The area has many historic pubs well worth visiting and the local vineyards and fruit farms give this area its well deserved title of The Garden of England.

"Beautiful spot for a quiet holiday."

My husband and I recently enjoyed staying 9 nights at Quarterdeck Cottage. After having spent over a month travelling from New Zealand and through Italy and France with another couple, it was especially nice to have some relaxing time in Kent. This accommodation was lovely. Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming and always willing to assist if necessary. Our accommodation was very comfortable, extremely quiet and well equipped with all the necessary cooking utensils. We enjoyed being able to relax with a cuppa or wine overlooking the lake and beautiful gardens. There is so much to do in the area and lots of nice pubs to have meals. Durng our stay we managed to have day trips to Canterbury Castle, Sissinghurst Castle, Bodiam Castle, Ashford (great outlet shopping!) Sandwich, Deal, Rye, Camber Downs and Tunbridge Wells. We also had a couple of trips to Tenterden (not far from Biddenden) which is a delightful village with nice shops and cafes. Another trip we enjoyed was a journey on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch railway. Sadly our trip ended and we are now back in New Zealand. We would certainly recommend this accommodation to any couple wishing to have a short or long stay break staying in a nice rural area of Kent.
