We have well-appointed self-catering rooms in the historic farmhouse which dates back to circa 1580 and has a wealth of exposed oak beams and period features. The house is furnished with antiques, and there are some original oak floors, inglenook fireplaces, and vaulted ceilings. Please note Whitfield Farm is a private owner-occupied guest-house. We offer self-catering accommodation with some facilities being shared (where stated) with other guests who may be staying.

Our large double and twin bedrooms may be booked individually or as a group. Many are furnished with antiques and all have TV, wi-fi, and tea/coffee making facilities. One of the bedrooms has an en-suite shower-room. There are additional double and twin character rooms which share a bathroom. Some bedrooms are in the eaves of the house where the exposed oak beams are vaulted into the roof with lower tie-beams which restrict head height in places. One of the rooms is a family suite with inter-connecting double and twin bedrooms and a sitting room area. Many rooms can accommodate extra single beds or a travel cot for a small additional charge.

Guests have exclusive use of the main farmhouse Drawing Room with log fire. Additionally, there is a Sitting/Dining room with a log fire, TV/DVD, and a dining table which can seat 10 people. There is a WC on the ground floor.

The shared farmhouse kitchen is fully equipped and has dining seating for 6 people, Guests have their own fridge/freezer and cupboard for supplies. There is a gas hob, with extractor over, a double oven with grill, solid fuel Rayburn with hot plates and oven (winter only), microwave and dishwasher. Laundry facilities are not offered but can be undertaken for a small charge.

Outside, there are 2 terraces with tables and chairs, and shared gardens with a small lake at the back. Plentiful private off-road parking is available in the driveway outside.

Guests may additionally be accommodated in the Garden House (which has an en-suite shower and own kitchen, garden and terrace) and in the Whitfield Annex adjoining the main house (where all the rooms are en-suite, and there is a kitchen, sitting room and outside terrace).

The House is surrounded by farmland, and there are many local walks in the countryside, and cycle routes along quiet country roads. It is peaceful and tranquil, and an ideal opportunity to relax. You can walk to the local village of Biddenden in about 10 minutes where there are good restaurants (including the Michelin starred West House), a good local pub with food, and a number of shops. Whitfield Farm is ideally located for visiting many places of interest, with Sissinghurst Castle, Leeds Castle, Scotney Castle, Bewl Water all nearby, along with many award-winning vineyards and championship golf courses at Chart Hills and the Weald of Kent, local fishing at the Cackle Hill Lakes, and flying and skydiving at the private Headcorn Aerodrome. The coast is some 30 minutes by car to Camber Sands, and the channel tunnel link at Ashford gives easy access to France and Belgium for day trips.

We are conveniently placed near the M20 and are an hour's drive from London and 40 minutes from Dover. London is within easy reach by train and for a small charge we can collect and drop off at the local station of Headcorn which connects with Charing Cross and London Bridge in 55 minutes. There is also a high speed train to Ashford International from St Pancras in 37 minutes. There are many local taxi services, a bus service from the village, and we can accommodate lifts to nearby destinations for our guests' convenience.

Whitfield Farm is an ideal location as a retreat for short breaks and as a central base for holidays to explore the many sights and places of interest that Kent has to offer. We look forward to welcoming you here.

The Kent region

From mysterious marshlands and breathtaking countryside to the dramatic white cliffs of Dover, there are medieval towns, historic castles, towering cathedrals and bustling seaside resorts to keep you busy on your visit to Kent.

Biddenden

One of the lovliest villages in the Weald of Kent, Biddenden is remarkable for its wide High Street and pavements of Bethersden Marble (a local limestone containing fossilised snailshells), for its brick and timbered houses and the lofty tower of its grey stone church, all of which have attracted artists through the ages. The village is perhaps best known for the tale of the Biddenden Maids, who were born in 1100 joined at the shoulder and hip, and their statue can be seen on the village green today.

The village has an industrial history in sheep and wool and the many fine houses which can be seen the locality are testament to the wealth this trade brought to the area. Back in the 14th century Flemish weavers were encouraged to move to this area and bring their weaving and dying skills with them.

Within 10 minutes walk are a range of local shops including a small supermarket, butchers, post office, hairdressers and tea rooms with gift shop. Biddenden has two restaurants, including the Michelin starred 'West House' and there is a local pub which serves a wide range of food at lunchtime and in the evenings. A little further out is the award-winning Biddenden Vineyards, where you can walk around the vineyards and sample the wines and ciders in their tea rooms and shop afterwards.

The tree-lined high street has historic shops and houses dating back to the 15th-century, but save your pennies for a visit to the local vineyard.
