House | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 6
For many years, Sunset has been a refuge for artists, musicians, writers, famous chefs and businessmen from all over the world. L'Express Magazine selected this gorgeous two-bedroom villa as one of the most beautiful vacation homes in Europe. Once you step inside, you'll understand why. Sunset offers floor-to-ceiling views of the beach, which you can easily walk to in less than a minute.
In fact, when it comes to location, Sunset is second-to-none. Nestled along the French Basque coast in Bidart, the beach here is quiet and untouched. It boasts the biggest break in the Basque country, with waves that can be ridden up to 5 meters or 16 feet. The villa itself overlooks the ocean, and the views are breathtaking inside and out.
Sunset exudes casual elegance. The combination of modern and traditional pieces—collected from the four corners of the world give the villa a warm and inviting feel without sacrificing the sense of luxury: most of the furniture was brought back from South Africa or Australia and the teak floor was specially imported from Japan. You'll find everything you need to prepare gourmet meals in the modern kitchen, and the open-design living area—which has a fireplace—opens onto the private terrace.
The master suite is particularly sumptuous. Every morning, you'll wake up to soft sunlight filtering in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, and the windowed lounge area is the perfect place to curl up with a good book. The oversized suite also features a king-size bed and an Italian shower in the lavish bathroom.
The guest bedroom occupies the entire second floor and has one double bed and two single beds. It overlooks the terrace and is very open and spacious, just like the rest of the villa. The second bathroom that also boasts an Italian shower and a toilet, is on the first floor.
Sunset provides an ideal base for exploring the Basque coast. Guéthary and its acclaimed restaurants are less than 10 minutes walk away, while Biarritz and San Jean de Luz are just a short ride away. Of course, with the beach right at your door, there's a good chance you won't want to stray far from the villa!
Sunset is truly worthy of its name, and for that reason it often books far in advance. Contact us today to reserve your dates.

Biarritz and Bayonne are its chief towns.
In medieval times the Basque Country was a ?shing and whaling
community. Whaling was important to the region's existence into the 17thcentury.Today the Basque Country is primarily a tourist destination, but stillmanages to maintain its character and steer clear of tackiness. This ismainly because most visitors come from nearby Spain and from the rest of France. The Basque Coast boasts more than 30 km of beaches. The backcountry
has much to o?er as well, Basque villages that have remained nestled in an
authentic countryside. And on top of it Spain is just a stone's throw away if you want to go out for San Sebastian's world-renowned tapas. In Biarritzand the surrounding area, you'll be able to truly experience a surprisingregion through its cuisine, its traditions and its geography…
Bidart, 3 minutes South of Biarritz has kept the charmof a small village with typical Basque heritage (chapels, fronton, houses labourdines). Beautiful verdant cliffsdominate its beaches (6 beaches 5 km of coastline);Bidart feels like a countryside village among its majorurban neighbors that are Biarritz and Saint Jean de Luz.
In Bidart, you can explore the local architectural heritage, tickle your
taste buds and also enjoy all kinds of activities (sur?ng, body-board,
golf, tennis, Basque pelota, horseback riding, hiking).
Guéthary has existed as a small fishing village since theearly 12th century. It became famous for hunting whalesin the 13th century. Today the fishermen port tookpractically the look of a marina. A truck farming here anda field of corn there, still remind the agricultural activity.
