Home description

The apartment is one of four situated in a town house in the centre of Villeneuve les Beziers. The property is newly renovated and furnished for 2009, with a large garage for parking and a block paved courtyard for breakfasting in the sun, sipping wine or eating a sumptuous BBQ. All apartments are different,(contact owner for descriptions of the other three). This one is on the first floor with two bedrooms, one double, one twin bedded, accessed by stairs from the lounge. The lounge/dining area has two large sofas, dining table and TV unit with TV and DVD player. The kitchen has brand new modern kitchen units with gas cooker and fridge. The bathroom has a shower cubicle, vanity unit and toilet. The owner will be on site during your stay to welcome you, hand over your keys and to familiarize you with the property and its facilities.

The apartment is ideally situated for sun worshippers, either lazing on the many beaches or soaking up the sun by rivers with clear waters, walkers and hikers, as it is surrounded by mountains, lakes, rivers and gorges or for families as there is a zoo, animal safari and amusement parks nearby.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Herault region

This is a beautiful region of France with spectacular scenery with mountains, vineyards, and of course miles of sandy beaches. There are rivers and gorges ideal areas to spend the days swimming, walking, or just picnicking and soaking up the sun.

There are many places to visit such as:

Carcassonne - La cite is a mediaeval walled city on the banks of the Aude with winding cobbled streets full of restaurants and shops.

Sete - A vibrant port, great for watching the parade of fishing boats bringing in their catch while eating at one of the many seafood restaurants on the Quai de la Marine.

Montpellier - A bustling city with an impressive 16th century cathedral and a myriad of mediaeval streets lined with designer shops, street cafes and restaurants.

Pezenas - An historical town with lots of places of interest, visit the tourist information centre and follow their guide to sample it's charms round it's narrow streets, while sampling 'un petit pate de Pezenas'.

Beziers / Villeneuve Les Beziers area

Villeneuve les Beziers is an old town built in 778, with its 12th century church and narrow streets, its like journeying back in time. The Canal du Midi, runs through its centre ,which was recently featured on Rick Stein's French Odyssey. If you enjoy cycling, one direction leads to Beziers and the nine locks at Fonserannes, while the other direction leads to the beach at Portiragnes Plage.

There is a twice weekly market selling fresh produce including vegetables, fruit, fish and meat. Villeneueve has a variety of shops, a pharmacy, supermarket, multiplex cinema plus more than ten restaurants all in walking distance. A few miles away there is a bowling alley, horse riding and of course a variety of sandy beaches. The village hosts a variety of entertainment all through the summer months such as the 'fete locale', Jazz concerts, Country and Western weekend and jousting on the canal.

The town of Beziers is well worth a visit to see the Saint Nazaires Cathedral which towers over the town, you can wander through the streets to admire the architecture taking in Allees Paul Riquet, a tree lined esplanade where on a Friday you will find the traditional flower market. There is a Feria every August which is a lively five day event with dancing, bull fights and street parties.

Ryanair flights from Stansted, Luton and Bristol now arrive at Beziers/Agde Airport (10 mins away)
Other airports are Nimes (1hr), Montpellier (1hr), Perpignan (2hrs), Carcassonne (1hr), Gerona (2hrs) and Barcelona (2hrs).
TGV station at Beziers.
Ferry Dover to Calais or Dunkerque.
Rental cars are available from airports and railway stations.
