Home description
This pretty, traditional village house is in the mediaeval town of Magalas, between the Cevennes mountains and the Mediterranean. There is one large double bedroom , a twin room, a modern shower room, dining room, fitted kitchen and living room. TV with satellite box, woodburner. Balcony with lovely view overlooking the lower town and vineyards beyond.
The town is well served with restaurants, (one with free Wi-Fi) bakeries, post office, bank, supermarket and weekly open-air market. You can picnic, swim or canoe nearby on the river Orb, walk in the mountains or relax on the 14 kilometre beach between Sete and Agde. You can sample the famous oysters of Bouzigues or go wine-tasting at any of the local vineyards. Magalas is easily accessible from Beziers, Montpellier, Nimes, Carcassone and Perpignan airports. Or go Eurostar to Beziers then local train- 20mins.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Herault region
Herault is a beautiful department specialising in wine-growing. Places of interest include the lively city of Montpellier, the beautiful Cathar city of Carcassonne, the bustling city of Beziers and a number of small mediaeval towns each with its local market, the most renowned of which is at Pezenas on Saturdays.
Beziers / Magalas area
Each village has its own summer festival but the 5-day Feria in Beziers is the most famous in the region. The village of St Guilhem le Desert is a protected heritage site, famous as a stopping point on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. Roquebrun has spectacular scenery and Lamalou-les-Bains is a famous spa town. There is wonderful walking in the Haut Languedoc National Park or cycling and canoeing for real sports lovers. The area is famous for wine-tasting and the seafood of the Bassin de Thau. The house is beautifully located for all these activities as well as the local Mediterranean beaches.

Further details indoors: The house is very French in character, with airy rooms and lovely tiled floors, whilst at the same time being nicely renovated with a modern shower room. There is more than ample crockery etc. It's unusual for a village house to have such open views. Newly fitted Godin woodburning stove means house suitable for winter letting and house-hunting trips all the year round. Garage.
