Barn | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2
A newly converted single storey barn, Moorhen Cottage is a comfortable refuge in the heart of our organic dairy farm. There is a large garden and terrace with a stunning view over the Pevensey levels to the South Downs, a wildlife pond, and a 'ha-ha' (with a 5 foot drop!) at the bottom of the garden. Well behaved dogs are welcome, (£25 charge, doggie rules apply!) and you can get tasty meals 200 metres away at the Lamb Inn in the hamlet of Wartling, before sauntering back to the cosy cottage. Bedlinen and towels are provided and underfloor heating and solar hot water will ensure you are comfortable in all weathers.
Local attractions include Herstmonceux and Pevensey Castles, we are 5 miles from the coast, near the historic town of Battle and within easy reach of the South Downs National park, Rye Harbour and other wildlife sites.
Eastbourne is nearby with its historic pier, theatres, cinema, marina, shopping and coastline.
•Fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher.
•Spacious bedroom with superking size bed, can be arranged as twin beds if requested in advance.
Activities on the working farm vary according to the time of year - in winter our herd of organic cows will be in the barns nearby, in summer they graze the fields and you may see them coming in for milking, or tractors bringing in the hay or silage crops. Guests are welcome to explore the farm, we provide several pairs of wellington boots but if you have your own it's a good idea to bring them! See our website www.courtlodgeorganics.co.uk to get a preview and see the yummy yogurt products that we make here!

The South East England region
We are in the 1066 area of East Sussex, abounding with history and beauty. The historic town of Battle is a few miles away with it's ancient abbey and the site of William The Conqueror's famous invasion of England in 1066. Many gardens to visit such as Great Dixter and Sissinghurst are in the area, and Hastings, Rye, Lewes, Eastbourne and Brighton not far off.
On the edge of the Pevensey Levels, with views to the sea and Eastbourne, We are close to historic Herstmonceux Castle with its moat and beautiful grounds, and 100 metres from the Lamb Inn at Wartling, which serves delicious food and is full of local character. The cottage is warm and cosy and very private, the area is renowned for its wildlife and there are lovely walks across the fields and in nearby woodland, yet we are not too far from many interesting places to visit.
