The South East England / Sussex region
East Sussex is a beautiful county with so much to explore. It borders on Kent with Royal Tunbridge Wells and Canterbury. Brighton with its fabulous Royal Pavilion, The Lanes and designer shops is 30 miles to the west, all fantastic places for days out. It is also possible to do day trips to France from Dover (about an hour and a half drive to Dover). Closer to home are Battle (famous for the battle of Hastings), the ancient towns of Rye, Hastings, Winchelsea, Alfriston and Pevensey. Tenterden is under an hours drive and well worth a visit. If you are a walker then Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters hills is also under an hours drive away. This is just a snippet about our county, come and find out for yourselves - there's plenty more.
The Bexhill-on-Sea area
Bexhill is a beautiful seaside town situated between Eastbourne and Hastings. This area is also known as 1066 country. We have a pebble beach with sand at low tide and 2 mile promenade. The newly regenerated west seafront and De La Warr Pavilion, which houses a theatre and hosts many art exhibitions, is a must. The Pavilion restaurant and cafe overlooks the sea with amazing views of Beachy Head. The east seafront has a good pub and a great kiosk serving snacks and ice cream. A small walk along the promenade you will come across the Sovereign Light Cafe which is featured in Keane's new song and video. If you watch Keane's new video you will be able to see Bexhill seafront along the promenade. Egerton Park (10 minutes walk) has family play and fitness areas, tennis courts and indoor as well as outdoor Lawn bowls. Eating out in Bexhill - everyone is catered for with Italian, Turkish, Nepalese, Belgium, Chinese, Thai, English and Indian restaurants. Fish and chips and Pizza take-away or supermarkets for self catering are all within a few minutes walk. Ravenside Retail Park is about a mile walk along the seafront or a couple of miles by road. There is a 24 hour Tesco, Next, Boots, Currys, PC world, McDonalds and KFC, also a large swimming pool. Historical Hastings is about a 4 mile walk or bike ride along the seafront or 20 minute bus ride. Eastbourne is approximately 12 miles west and has a large Marina with shops and resturants. easily accessible by bus/train. Bexhill can be whatever you want for a holiday, quiet and relaxing, sporty (great run or walk on the seafront promenade), sea fishing, surfing and many places of interest within easy distance.

Paddlers is a lovely apartment, very close to the beach, local shops and 5 minutes from the railway station. Diane and Simon make you very welcome. We highly recommend Paddlers and hope to visit again in the near future. |

We stayed for a few days with our 40 year old son and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The apartment is extremely comfortable and very well equiped and we couldn't believe the welcome pack that was left for us - absolutely fantastic and extremely thoughtful of the hosts Simon and Diane. Beach, bars, restaurants and shope are all within a few minutes walking distance so you do not need to use the car unless you wish to go further afield. We will be moving to Bexhill this week and will recommend this place to any of our family or friends who want to come and visit. |
