Enquire nowThe North Wales / Snowdonia/Gwynedd region
Cae Du Is In The Conwy valley, a green and wooded part of the Snowdonia National Park. Snowdonia is an area of outstanding natural beauty, with many mountains, notably Snowdon, the tallest. If you are feeling fit, there are many clear paths to the top which can be walked; alternatively, you can take the Snowdon mountain train from Llanberis up the 3560-foot summit. The area has a history of mining, particularly slate, and the chances are if you have a slate roof, the slate came from this area. You can visit some of these mines. Castles are plentiful, some in remarkable condition, all open to visitors. Some other places of interest are Portmeirion village (where "Prisoner" was filmed) and Conwy, a beautiful walled town with harbour. The victorian town of Llandudno, with its masive promenade, take lunch at Osborn house hotel, and cable car to the Great Orme with its dry ski slope and toboggan run. You can also find many stunning beaches some quite remote places.
The Betws-y-Coed / Dolwyddelan area
4 miles away is Betws Y Coed, the most popular village in North Wales. This is an old village with a good selection of shops and places to eat, a railway station all in a beautiful setting. You can buy supplies here. Dolwyddelan, about a mile away, is a small village with a pub and Spar store, as well as the remains of a castle. Nearby is the "Fairy Glen" and swallow falls both well known. Just beyond Dolwyddelan you can find the Ffestniog railway, a narrow gauge steam train which takes you through the mountains with fantastic views, you can stop and look around and catch the next train to continue your journey. More and more good food can be found nearby,

Looking to get away with weekend of friends; some married with children, who came. The house itself is simply stunning, plenty of space in all rooms and communal areas (a well stocked kitchen that can accommodate everyone standing around and talking before you sit down at the dining room table that comfortable fitted 15 of us). It's all finished to a really high standard and frankly, I wished I lived there. There's no feeling of having to make do here with large bedrooms (the master bedroom having an amazing en-suite wet-room), plenty of bathrooms (jacuzzi bath!) and areas like a reading room if you fancied getting away from the group. The organisation of the stay was completely painless with everything we needed being fed to us and all questions being answered promptly and completely. There's a huge range of activities if you want to get out of the house with people mountain biking, hiking and and some taking a slower pace at Port Meirion, well worth a look. The house itself is on a large piece of land with plenty of room for the children to get fresh air; wooded areas, a stunning river and open spaces. Over all I'd have no problem recommending this as a place to stay for anyone or any age and the only regret is that we weren't there for longer. Response: Thank you for taking the time to let me know all went well, so pleased a good time was had by all, Many thanks. |
