The North Wales region
Tucked between Conwy and Betws y Coed, in a quiet cul de sac, this fabulous former Coach House, built in the 1850s is located in the small hamlet of Maenan. The property has been recently renovated and furnished to a good standard. Set in very attractive mature gardens within the beautiful Conwy Valley, you can enjoy views of the lush green hills while sitting by the pretty stream running along the bottom of the garden, or perhaps take an invigorating walk starting just across the road, upwards to Cadar Ifan Goch, where the far reaching views of the Conwy Valley from the summit are absolutely spectacular. You will be perfectly situated here for visiting the coastal holiday resort of Llandudno (14 miles), with its Victorian Pier, promenade, pebble beach, tramway, cable car, dry ski slope and numerous other attractions. Following the coast road from Llandudno you will find sandy beaches and more nice flat walks in the village of Rhos on Sea. The tiny church of St Trillo is nestled away on the promenade. If you have children to entertain, the Welsh Mountain Zoo in Colwyn Bay is a great place to spend the day. A tasty meal out is no further than the neighbouring Maenan Abbey Hotel, a mere 2 minute stroll from Abbey End. This beautiful part of north Wales has something for everyone.
The historic town of Conwy, boasting the remains of Conwy Castle, is 12 miles away and is one of the only places where it is possible to walk along the old town walls or take a stroll along the path which follows the Conwy estuary. Travelling inland from the property only 6 miles is the popular village of Betws y Coed. Home to walks and trails through the Gwydir Forest, the spectacular Swallow Falls, a narrow gauge railway and numerous outdoor wear shops as well as interesting individual shops and an abundance of really nice places to eat. On the way here you will pass through the village of Llanrwst - why not pop over the little bridge and indulge in a traditional Welsh afternoon tea at Ty Hwnt yr Bont, an ivy clad traditional Welsh cottage. Nearby Bodnant Gardens are also not to be missed, owned by the National Trust along with a tea room and little craft shops - a very relaxing day out. A recent addition is the Bodnant Food Hall, all local produce, along with a cafe and restaurant which you will find a mile after the gardens. For the adventurous, how about an adrenalin rush on the Tree Tops High Ropes course just along the road? There are many more places to see, walks to enjoy and historic buildings and castles to visit both along the coast and in beautiful Snowdonia.
