Bwthyn Crwban (which means Turtle Cottage) is set amidst the stunning scenery of the Snowdonia National Park. The cottage was fully renovated in 2011 and now provides a welcoming home from home, with everything needed to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. This traditional stone semi-detached cottage is centrally located for both the mountains and the coast. The cottage is found in the quiet unspoilt Machno valley just 4 miles from well known Betws-y-Coed, with its wealth of tourist facilities, gear shops, pubs and restaurants. There is a welcoming real ale pub within walking distance as well as a wealth of exhilarating outdoor pursuits within easy reach, including walking and climbing, a choice of well-known mountain bike trails, excellent canoeing, bird watching, horse riding and golf.
At a gentler pace, you can explore the famous Swallow Falls or board a steam train for spectacular views. To the south are the coastal attractions of the LLyn Peninsula, include the celebrated Italianate village of Portmeirion, the harbour town of Portmadog and the famous Black Rock Sands. To the north visit the Great Orme with its many attractions including a ski slope, tramway and cable car, not to mention the beaches and Victorian pier of Llandudno. To the west lies the Snowdonia mountain ranges with Caernarfon and Anglesey beyond whilst to the east can be found the town of Llangollen with its famous Eisteddfod and the awe inspiring Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, a World Heritage Site.
Our cottage is centrally located for everything Snowdonia and the greater North Wales can offer you. Unwind in a peaceful, tranquil, setting or use it as a rest stop for an adrenalin fuelled holiday!

Our cottage has a comfortable, beamed sitting-room with wood-burning stove, leather settees and Welsh slate floor. Freeview TV, DVD player (with selection of DVD’s), radio/CD player and IPOD dock.
Local information, maps and local walking guides are provided to help you get the most from your visit.
The modern kitchen / dining room features a range cooker, microwave, fridge, washing machine and dishwasher to allow you to self cater in comfort when you don’t want to venture out to one of the many restaurants / pubs nearby .
There is a brand new Shower room / WC and upstairs a large double bedroom and twin bedded room with sloping ceilings.
For visitors with young children a travel cot, booster seat, stair gate and child friendly crockery/cutlery is provided.
Dogs are welcome.
All linen (duvets) and towels are provided and gas, electricity and first basket of fire logs are included In the price.
Outside there is one off-road parking space, welsh slate patio with patio furniture and stunning views. Due to the steep narrow stairs the cottage is unsuitable for the infirm.
Please note that smoking is not permitted in our cottage.

The North Wales region
Set in the peaceful Machno valley, close to the Conwy Falls and the famous mountain bike trails. Set in the Heart of Snowdonia, famous for walking, climbing, mountain biking and canoeing as well as just relaxing and enjoying the stunning scenery. Mountain bike trails, walks and activity centres close by in the Penmachno Valley. Only four miles from Betwy-y-Coed with the famous Swallow Falls, a wealth of good quality pubs and restaurants as well as gear shops for all types of mountain activities. A 30 minute scenic drive to the bottom of Snowdon. Many places of interest nearby including mountain and heritage railways, Victorian LLandudno, Portmerion and the beautiful beaches on the LLyn Peninsula.
Betws-y-Coed has many pubs, restuarants and gear shop and is a famous ' hotspot ' location for turists to the area. The Penmachno valley is at the junction of the Machno and Conwy Rivers, by the awe inspiring Conwy Falls and Fairy Glen. The village has a welcoming real ale pub.
