Victoria Lodge is situated within the heart of The Snowdonia National Park. In the pretty village of Dolwyddelan close to the very popular Welsh town of Betws y coed.We are in a very scenic part of the Lledr valley. We are close to Dolwyddelan castle, fantastic walks from the doorstep to forest, moorland, mountain and river. Beaches are a 30 min drive away, Portmeirion village is 20 mins away always worth a visit. Slate mines are close by, just up the Crimea Pass 10 mins away.Waterfalls spectacular after rain are at Betws y coed 7 miles away. You really will be spoilt for choice for things to do.
The Betws-y-Coed / Dolwyddelan area
There are numerous places worth a visit whilst you are on holiday at Victoria Lodge, you will be spoilt for choice. A trip to Snowdonia is not complete without a visit to Mount Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales. There are several walks to the summit, it takes about 5 hours. A less strenuous way is to book a ticket on the narrow gauge railway which you board at Llanberis . There is a visitor centre at the summit. If you cant wait to see it in person, you can view it on line via BBC webcam.
Portmerion is an Italian inspired village on the coast, well worth a visit, about 20 minutes away from Victoria Lodge by car, they also have a webcam so you can see it before you go.There is Dolwyddelan castle, and you get fantastic views of the area from there. Gwydir castle in Llanrwst is 15 mins away. Waterfalls are at Swallow Falls in Betws y coed, but in our village if you go on 'the secret valley walk' there is a waterfall at the end of it. Fishing on the River Lledr is permitted in season and all guests that stay at Victoria Lodge can apply for a visitor ticket, this enables guests to fish for salmon and trout. We have a monthly newsletter which we send out to our guests, just visit our website and sign up, there is lots more information on there about forthcoming events. To keep the children happy our village has a mini-golf, tennis court, childrens play park and swings and equipment can be hired at the pavillion. Betws y coed 7 miles away and is always very busy with locals and tourists alike, there are lots of Hotels, Cafe's and gift shops and an amazing little cake shop that sells the best Welsh cakes we have ever tasted.

The house itself is converted to to a very high standard, and has a nicely quirky layout and feel. It is well-equipped and is situated in the heart of a beautiful valley. We are not bikers or ramblers, but there was very good local information provided in the house on a wide variety of walks/paths. Sites we visited included Barmouth, Harlech, Port Merion, Bodnant Gardens, Conwy and Llandudno, and all were easily do-able in a short car ride from the house. Would definitely return. |

Beautiful Lodge with amazing accommodation, lovely decor and garden. The location was very good for visiting many parts ofNorth Wales. The village has a shop and good beer at the pub. We enjoyed good food at the local hotel and a few walks all from the Lodge, without using the car. |
