About the home

This apartment was designed with luxury and sophistication in mind, with marble en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning fitted throughout and gorgeous first floor balconies it allows you to explore the tropical paradise of Goa with the relaxation and comfortability of everything you need. It is within view of the beach and a short walk in to the centre of Betalbatim which has all amenities including shops, post office and a bank. Not to mention just a few minutes walk to the famous 'Martins Corner; a restaurant' renown for its delicious Goan and International Cuisine.

There is a large communal pool and a jacuzzi and the complex is beautifully set in landscaped gardens. The bustling town of Margao, the capital of South Goa is a 15 minute taxi ride away, great for shopping for souvenirs and just about anything you need!

This beautiful, newly built, spacious 2 bedroom duplex apartment has high ceilings & luxurious furnishings. The spacious open plan living and dining room opens out to the balcony front terrace overlooking the front manicured garden.

The lounge and master bedroom are equipped with flat screen cable TV, there are telephones and air conditioning units in all bedrooms and the lounge area, furthermore there are overhead fans in all the rooms for ultimate comfort. The bedrooms both have en-suite marble bathrooms each containing a bath in addition to a shower. The master bedroom has a superking size bed, ample cupboard and drawer space and a wall mounted flat screen TV.
Though it's time to be away from any work and the computer, we do have unlimited internet access 24/7 in the apartment. The Wifi is presently unhooked but can be hooked up on request and at no additional charge, Just advise us prior to your arrival.

The wooden spiral staircase leads you up to two wide single beds upstairs with a second en-suite bathroom and a long private balcony with a view over the palm tree tops to the sand dunes. Cook up your own meals with fresh produce from the market nearby in the fully equipped kitchen complete with gas 4 burner hob and electric oven, microwave and full sized refrigerator, or simply enjoy brewing up a round of afternoon tea to enjoy on the balcony, you won't miss any of your home comforts at Golden Sands.

The pool is surrounded by lounger chairs set in the beautifully maintained gardens. Goa suffers from regular electricity cuts but this complex has a large emergency generator which cuts in when required.

There is ample parking available within the complex walls. There is a 24 hour security guard.
There is a taxi rank right outside the complex gates.

Further details

20% of the total rental fee is required on booking. This is non-refundable. The remainder is due 6 weeks prior to departure. There is an additional refundable charge of £150 against breakages or damage to apartment fittings which is payable when completing the booking but will be refunded within 2 weeks of completion of the holiday provided our local agent has confirmed no breakages. Due to the nature of luxury items in the apartment, liability in case of damage extends to full replacement of the damaged goods.

The Goa / West India / Goa region

Goa is the smallest state in India that was colonized by the Portuguese for 400 years till 1961 thus leaving behind historic architecture in beautiful churches, forts and a unique cultural mix that sets Goa and goans aside from the other states of India. Goa is renowned for its beautiful beaches, churches, temples, cuisine and its laidback personality the locals are very friendly and are willing to go out of their way to help a fellow traveler find their way around. Goa is mainly divided into two parts north Goa and south Goa.

Comercialisation has led to multiple tourist hot spots clustered around the beaches in the North but South Goa retains its ethnic identity and is far less crowded and busy. There are excellent restaurants with an active night life but it is always possible to find a quiet beach shack or restaurant to eat quietly. Goa has a warm tropical climate. May is the hottest month with temperatures approaching 40 centigrade. The monsoon is generally June to October. In November to February the temperatures are around 29c (84 Farenheight) in the day dropping pleasantly to around 20c 968 Farenheight) at night.

Goa is five and a half hours ahead of GMT.

The electricity supply is 220 or 240 volts so most UK appliances will work with a plug adaptor.

The Betalbatim / Betal Batim Beach area

Activities available locally range from hiring a scooter or bike and setting off to explore to fully guided tours. You can go Dolphin watching, tour a working spice plantation, ride or have a bath with elephants, go casino cruising, or visit the 16th Century old capital of Velha Goa. There is a bird sanctury on the river Mandovi just outside Panaji and bird watching cruises are available off the river Sal. You can even take part in a cookery course and learn to produce some of the mouthwatering Goan dishes for yourself. We highly recommend Martins Corner restaurant just a few minutes walk from the apartment.

From Betalbatim beach you can walk in either direction for miles and come across lovely beach shacks to sit and drink fresh coconut water and smoothies, collect shells and simply enjoy the serenity of the location. Massages are available on the beach enquire with local beach shack owners for further information.
South Goa is perfect for those looking for a peaceful and relaxing escape but there is also plenty of night life in the neighbouring village of Colva, a 10 minute taxi ride away, or in the more touristy spots in North Goa, a 45 minute taxi drive north.

From UK airports there are chartered flights with Monarch,Thompson, and Thomas Cook that fly directly to Dabolim Airport which is just a 25 minute taxi ride to Golden Sands Apartment. You can often find cheaper flights with greater date flexibility by booking connecting flights; Jet, Quatar and Kingfisher are some of our preferred airlines with good connectivity from UK through Mumbai, Doha or New Delhi airports. However if connecting in Mumbai you will need to allow at least 3 hours as you have to transfer from the International Airport terminal to the Domestic Airport. Our favourite route is with Quatar airlines through Doha which generally has the quickest transfer times.

On arrival at Dabolim airport there are taxis available which all operate under regulated set tariffs (approximately 800 Rupees,15 GBP). You can also take an overnight train from Mumbai follows the route through the countryside in Maharashtra before crossing into Goa. The train ride is quite a bargain but you do need to be aware that it is frequently a few hours late!

“Fantastic Relaxing Apartments” We stayed at the Golden Sands apartments over New year 2012 and couldn't have had a better time. From arrival to departure we were looked after really well by the fantastic staff at the apartment complex. The apartment itself was comfortable and superb, looking out over the beautiful gardens, and the pool and jacuzzi area were spotless, private and delightful. Just a short 10 minute walk from Betalbatim beach, which was peaceful and had miles of golden sand fringed by the Arabian sea, and the same walk to the village, and all amenities, the apartments couldn't have been better placed, and it was a great cental position to visit all of South Goa. New Year's Eve, strolling in the surf, was fantastic, with fireworks all around, and everybody wishing each other well. Don't miss it!
