The Northumberland region

NorthEast England is one of the most beautiful areas of England, and the least visited - you will find less traffic here than in the South of England, and more friendliness. Northumberland is a predominantly rural landscape, with the rolling hills of the Cheviot range to the West, and a fantastic coastline to the East. There are several walking trails in the area, including St Cuthberts Way and the North Sea Coastal Trail. There are excellent golf courses, both links courses and inland, as well as fishing, horse riding, diving, birdwatching and lots more!

Berwick upon Tweed

Berwick-upon-Tweed is an atmospheric seaside town, located on the English / Scottish border. From its historic Elizabethan town walls to its delightful coffee houses and small shops, Berwick is full of character with lots to explore.

There are good local services, including a leisure centre and swimming pool, a lively theatre/cinema, night clubs and restaurants. The coastline from Berwick down to Holy Island is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with wonderful beaches and nature walks. Local activities include horse riding, fishing, golfing, hiking, bird watching and water sports. The Holy Island of Lindisfarne, Bamburgh and Alnwick Castle of Harry Potter fame are within easy reach. On the Scottish side of the Border are the charming fishing villages of Eyemouth and St Abbs, and other attractions in the Scottish Borders There is an excellent rail service from Berwick – Edinburgh or Newcastle are just half an hour away..

"Fantastic location"

A truly stunning town house set out over 4 floors, the views are amazing and the overall quality of the furnishings cannot be faulted. The owners have made the experience of renting this holiday home an absolute pleasure, a friendly welcome with everything you could wish for provided. Berwick is an excellent base for your holiday enough shops and eating places to keep you entertained and not too over crowded. There are loads of days out to be had in the surrounding area and although this was my first visit to Northumberland it will not be my last. 5 star accommodation and a 5 star location. (and luckily for us 5 star weather)

"Beautiful Accomodation"

The house is situated in an excellent location, the views take your breath away from both lounge and 1st floor bedrooms, tastefully decorated and finished to a very high standard. Would definately stay in this house again.

"Perfect"

We just loved this apartment, from the moment we drove through the Archway and saw our view we knew it was going to be great. When we arrived the table was set for tea with fresh wild flowers and a lovely homebaked lemon drizzle cake. The accommodation has everything you could think of (although I couldn't find a hairdryer I'm sure there would have been one there). It is homely, yet contemporary, plenty of space for everyone to do their own thing. Lots of good books and window seats to enjoy reading them. I appreciated all the eco friendly products in use. The girls delighted with the WiFi. It's perfectly placed for the short drive to Lindisfarne, Bamburgh and the beautiful beaches surrounding. I think we may have been the first people to stay and I'm sure that we'll have to book well in advance in the future for this one. Thanks to the Tiernans.
