Berlin

In Short: Berlin's largest district, 70% of which is made up of forests, other green areas, and water. Köpenick, especially in its historic centre, has all the charm of a countryside village.

Highlights: Köpenick Palace, Köpenick Blues & Jazz Festival, Treptower Park and its imposing Soviet Memorial.

Getting around: Treptower Park, Schöneweide, and Köpenick are transport hubs for numerous Suburban train and tram lines.

Why stay: the most authentic of Berlin's eastern districts, with the city's highest percentage of forest and lake landscapes.

Description: Treptow: The Berlin Treptow district is situated in the south-east of Berlin and near to Kreuzberg, Neukölln and Lichtenberg and used to be Berlins biggest industrial area. However, Treptow is home to wide river, lake and forest sceneries as well as the highest hill in Berlin. The river Spree crosses almost the whole of Treptow, an area made up of a wide variety of traditional and modeern architecture. Important points of interest are the Science and Technology Park Adlershof, the observatory Archenhold and the water statue Molecule Man.
