Apartment | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2
Welcome to the cosy, Recycled Design Studio Apartment!
Our studio apartment is kind of like a mini warehouse space and is situated in the hip leafy green neighbourhood of Prenzlauer Berg.
The area is full of great cafes, restaurants and bars and we keep our favourites written on the kitchen wall for you. There's a whole blackboard wall for doodles and notes - we provide chalk!
The kitchen and furniture are made by us at Not A Wooden Spoon with recycled Berlin floorboards. We like to keep it dynamic so the furniture changes regularly and if you like something in the apartment, we might just let you buy it!
We create a little organic breakast starter kit for you with juice, milk (do let us know if you would prefer soya), muesli, yoghurts, seasonal fruits, teas and coffee.
We happily recommend independent Berlin furniture designer-makers as well as ethical/green shopping and local crafts people and we're usually just around the corner if you need anything or just feel like a chat and a coffee or drink.
What we have:
* high speed internet (WIFI)
* a kitchen with hob, fridge, teas, coffee, oil, salt/pepper etc
* bathroom with shower
* towels, bed linen etc
* hair dryer
* it's quiet, sunny between 10 - 2pm and it's on the ground floor
* the bed (1.6m x 2m) is made for a couple
* cot on request
* there's free parking 20 minutes walk away or we can organise a parking permit for an extra 50€ / week on request (otherwise it's 1€ per hour). You'll also need to apply for a Green Environment Badge - Grüne Umwelt Plakate as Berlin is a "green zone". Only cars registered outside of Berlin/Brandenberg are eligible.
* 3 mins walk to Kollwitzplatz and its beautiful Saturday street market,
* 5 mins walk to Oderberger Str which leads directly to the Sunday Mauer Park flea market and Kastanien Allee's bars, cafes and independent shops.
* 5 mins walk to the U Bahn (U2 Eberswalder Str), and M10, M1, and M12 trams which take you to Friedrichshain and Mitte in 10 minutes.
***Just wanted to let everyone know that there's temporary scaffolding outside our apartment until the end of the year which means not as much light comes through the windows as usual (although there's still a little bit of sun between 10am - midday!) and there are sometimes workers in the courtyard on weekdays from about 7am.
It's different every day, it's possible that it will be quiet, (always quiet on weekends) but we feel we want to let you know that you might hear some noise in the morning.
If you don't mind the sounds of a city under renewal, or being an early bird, we'll reward every booking during this time with a complimentary bottle of organic sparkling wine!***
Looking forward to seeing you!

The Brandenburg/Berlin region
The region north of Berlin is abundant with lakes formed during the ice age. We recommend renting a car and driving out to a lake with a picnic and a good book. Don't worry if you forget to pack your swimmers as the east Germans are famous for swimming in their birthday suit.
If you fancy a cycle trip out of town, Brandenburg has some great cycle paths - you can even cycle to Copenhagen via forests and lakes.
Prenzlauer Berg, a leafy green Berlin neighbourhood with wide cobbled streets just north of the centre is full of independent cafes, bars and restaurants. Popular with locals and visitors alike are the huge Sunday flea market at Mauer Park, a wonderful Saturday foodie market at the picturesque Kollwitz Platz, and an abundance of great restaurants and bars.
Whether you're drinking a pilsner under the speckled light of a sun dappled tree or sipping a russian hot chocolate in a candle lit early dusk, Prenzlauer Berg will make you want to move here no matter the season.
