This ground floor flat is set amidst tranquil surroundings in a leafy courtyard. This is one of the best neighbourhoods in Berlin. It is perfectly safe to wander around at all hours of the night; there are some 24 hour cafes, like the Schwarze Cafe (The Black Cafe); the established Chinese restaurant ' Good Friends'among many other Chinese, Vietnamese, etc the Asian kitchen is well represented. Tapas and sushi brs, French Italian and continental cooking in other words - an international cuisine and a budget to suit all tastes and purses.
Right across the road, who tjhose who know, is the A-Trane Jazz Club Cafe where many an excellent jazz gig beckons nightly strting late and into early hours of morning.
The Gedachtniskirche, the Museum of Photography, the Zoo& Aquarium etc are all in the area, within walking distance. The Theater des Westens for musicals, the Deutsche Oper and Philharmonie are all in the area as is the green lung of the city - the Tiergaten.
The 3.5 kilometre long Kurfuerstendamm is close by, a 10-min walk away.

The Brandenburg/Berlin region
Like Paris or London, Berlin contains multitudes and the many different areas in Former East and West Berlin like Mitte, Kreuzberg, Friedrichshain, Prenslauerberg, Wilmersdorf, and Charlottenburg (where this apartment is situated) are all worth exploring , each having its own distinct flavour and dynamics.
Berlin's transport system is smooth and moving amongst the various districts will generally take between 10 and 20 minutes. This apartment is less than1 U-Bahn stop to Zoo or 10 -15 minutes walk,and the buses X34 and M49 both go to S and U Bahn Zoologischer Garten, which is a central clearing point. Don't miss buses 100 or 200 from Zoo which are ideal to jump on for a tour of the most interesting sights the city has to offer. Tegel Airport is 6 kilometres away, and Schonefeld 15 kilometres.
The Berlin / Central Berlin area
Recreation park and lake Lietzensee is a 5 minute bus ride or half an hour's walk.
Berlin's Zoo & Aquarium is 5 minutes' away by bus/S Bahn.
Charlottenburg Palace a 20 minute bus ride from Zoo.(M45) . Behind Zoo station, is the excellent Museum of Photography, the iconic Kaiser-Wilhelm Gedachtniskirche. Don't miss 'The Story of Berlin' just west of the Uhlandstrasse U-Bahn.
Further afield is Wannsee (Europe's biggest inland beach) and Potsdam , but both can be accessed by the S7 straight from Savignyplatz S-Bahn train station. In fact, S Bahn Savignyplatz runs through many must-see areas like Hackesher Markt, Friedrichstrasse,Alexanderplatz.
Nearby is the Tiergaten another huge recreational complex with a renowned flea market on Sundays.
A stone's throw away is the Wednesday and Saturday open air market with fresh produce, organic food and bakery items.

From Tegel Airport (6 kilometres) TXL bus (daily 5 am -midnight; every 15-20 minutes)to Hauptbahnhof (25 min,) change to S-Bahn ( S5,S7,) to Savignyplatz (4 stops)
From Schonefeld Airport take the Regionalzug (regional train( which goes every half hour to Station Zoologischer Garten (a 35 minutes ride), then the S-Bahn to Savignyplatz, the first stop on several S-Bahns going west, or buses 34 or 49 through Kantstrasse, get off at Schlutterstrasse or Savignyplatz.
Alternatively, at the airport take the Bus nr ** to Rudow, which is the endstation on the blue U-Bahn no 7, take the U-Bahn direction Spandau and get off at Wilmersdorferstrasse, and there take buses 34 or 49 direction Zoologischer Garten, get off at Schlutterstrasse or Savignyplatz.
Taxis from Tegel should be around 15 Euros, From Schonefeld about 30 Euros.
Many cheap flights go to Schonefeld Airport from the UK, e.g.Ryanair, German Wings.BMI, or Easy Jet..
Public transport tickets are valid on the entire system of trams, buses, and suburban and underground trains, so it's usually worthwhile buying a ticket for the duration of your visit on arrival - to cover the journey from the airport and inner-city journeys. (Zones A-B-C from airport; once at the apartment, Zones A-B). Week and /or day cards are can be bought at the airport. If driving, there is a parking garage at Schluterstrasse 150 metres from the apartment. (around 8 Euros per day)or Knesebeckstrasse 72 -73 (10 euros per day)

I stayed at Savignyplatz with my boyfriend for a long weekend break. It is perfect for a romantic weekend or to go with friends to sample the delights of what Berlin has to offer. The apartment is in Charlottenburg with good transport links, it is close to bars, boutiques and excellent restaurants. The apartment is really cosy and has been put together well and feels really homely. I would definitely recommend Berlin and staying here!!
I am glad my recent guests loved the eclectic way we decorated this apartment - mostly new IKEA beds and tables & chairs together with some retro items assembled by my daughter who is a Fine Arts graduate. I would lke to point out that though the apt is in Charlottenburg officially, it is really just off Mitte as some interested parties tend to ask if we are West of Centre whereas we are right where the action is, as those who stayed in this apt found out. So it is in a Top Location and so near to the heart of events and well-placed for sightseeing.

The apartment is as described in the add, and looks as it does in the pictures, so not any bad surprises.
Very good location, centrally and quiet still.
Close to nice restaurants, shops and the train station so it's easy to get around.
Its central location and the easy ambience of the neighbourhood are reasons we love this apt.Hopefully our guests would enjoy these special qualities as well.
