The house is surrounded by lawn and it is peacefully situated with only a few farms in sight. Nevertheless, the nearest village with a grocery store, café/restaurant, a bakery and a butcher is within walking distance.

The house is characterised by detailed and careful decoration; everything has been thought of! Inside, at the ground floor the house has one double room with en suite bathroom and a living room with a cosy sofa corner with flat screen TV, perfect for indoor relaxation.

At the first floor, you find the other double rooms, distributed on each side of the open kitchen and dining area with a big dining table and another flat screen TV. The big rooms all differently designed and with bathrooms inside in corresponding colours and made with quality materials, all adding to the feeling of a very inviting holiday home. The big rooms with own bathrooms makes the house ideal for groups where people also like to have the option of retire from time to time.

The outdoor area is well used with the swimming pool and beach beds in one side of the garden and with the covered terrace, excellent for the hot Catalan summer days, at the other. Additionally, the BBQ and the outdoor kitchen provide you with perfect conditions for outside cooking and dining. The Costa Brava/Catalonia region

In the northeast of the Iberian Peninsula, on the Mediterranean side, and occupying a relatively small area of 32,000 square kilometres, lies Catalonia, one of Spain's most fascinating and diverse regions.

Geographically and culturally, the splendour of Catalonia is so unique. It has a vast diversity of landscapes ranging from rocky coastlines to long flat beaches, from mountains to plains, and from marshlands to forest. It has great cosmopolitan cities such as the amazing Barcelona with its fantastic art nouveau buildings, or the historical Girona and its great old Jewish quarter. It has small medieval mountain villages sitting at the foot of the Pyrenees and elegant coastal resorts in the sandy shores of the Mediterranean Sea.

Catalonia has a distinct regional identity that borrows little form the rest of Spain. Catalans have their own language, and are intensely proud of their unique art, cuisine, folklore and long history. Ask the Catalans themselves and many will tell you that Catalonia is not a region but a nation. Not surprisingly, rivalry between the Catalans and the rest of Spain is an ongoing part of this country's history.

Catalonia is home of great artistic achievements, ranging from grand Greek and Roman monuments, or exquisitely simple Romanesque works, to some of the most exciting art of the twentieth century such as the great Gaudí's avant garde buildings, the surrealism of the painters Salvador Dalí or Miró, or the cubism of Picasso, all of whom spent their formative years in Catalonia.

Catalans pride themselves on good eating too, and you will find some of Spain's finest restaurants here. Catalan food is typically Mediterranean, featuring olive oil as its staple component. As the region is so geographically diverse, it provides a variety of fresh high quality meat, poultry, game, seafood, fruit and vegetables and a great variety of wild mushrooms. Fine red and white wines are produced here, and Catalan sparkling wines (cavas) are favourite celebratory wines around the world.

Finally Catalonia offers a wide range of activities to suit all ages and levels of fitness: Skiing (in winter), swimming, horse back riding, cycling, hiking, golfing, ... there are endless possibilities.

All in all Catalonia offers no end of opportunities for day trips and adventures, that together with its excellent communications, makes of Catalonia a top-class tourist destination in Europe.

Catalonia, Spain is a region rich with world-class architectural achievements and experiences left behind by geniuses like Gaudi and Jujol. There is the spectacular and unfinished Cathedral, La Sagrada Familia ,and the marvellous architectural parks where architecture and nature intertwines. The extraordinary resident buildings like la casa Batlló, where the intense mosaics and rather strange lines invoke pictures of skeletons, dinosaurs and dragons in our minds. Among these architectural masterpieces in the city of Barcelona there is a modern shopping environment, where you will find the latest trends in fashion and design. All the major cities in Catalonia are lively and stylish cities. Come check it out...

Catalonia is renowned and respected for its formidable cuisine. You will find quite a few praised restaurants with more than one Michelin star, and quite a few world famous chefs. But you will also find the more down-to-earth restaurants and diners where you can enjoy the traditional Catalonian cuisine. We are offering a free multimedia catalogue with 16 thematic routes that will enable you to experience Catalonia through your tongue. You can get lost in the Catalonian cuisine on the pastries-route, the cava-route, the sausage-route and the cheese-route. Please take contact to receive the multimedia taste route.

Or how about watching a football match along with 98.917 other spectators on FC Barcelona's legendary Camp Nou?The best advise is to come to Catalonia and see for yourself. Please do not hesitate to contact us in order to receive more informations regarding the house, the area or activities in Catalonia.

CLIMATE

With more than 300 sunny days, Catalonia has deserved its surname "the sunny side of the Pyrenees". The climate, however, varies depending on which part of the region you visit.

THE COAST

By the coast there is Mediterranean climate with mild winthers and hot summers with temperatures 30-35 degrees. Due to the closeness to the sea, the heath is more humid than centrally in Catalonia. Barcelona has its own climate. The city is surrounded by mountains on three sides, and on the fourth side the sea and therefore it has a high humidity in July and August. In these months, a ride in the airconditioned metro and buses can be a relief. The best months to visit Barcelona is September-November and March-May, but Barcelona can easily be visited all year around, as the sun almost always shines. Even in December and January it is possible to find a sunny spot with a nice temperature.

INLAND

Inland there is continental climate which means that there is generally a big flucturation in the temperatures and that it is colder in the winther-time, not at least in the mountains. In the Pyrenees, there are several skisport resorts.
In the summer, the heath is dry and therefore pleasant even on very hot days, if you stay in the shadow in the mid-day sun. There is usually beautiful weather from Marc to October. The Catalans would never enter the swimming pool before in the middle of June, but our guests from more northern countries have jumped in April as well as September.

Bergueda / Mont Mayor area

If you wish to absorb the lively local life in one of the smaller villages in the Girona region, go swimming on the stunning beaches of the Costa Brava. Go hiking in the Pyrenees or see some of the most interesting museums in Catalonia. If you want everything in a week and within your reach, we highly recommend the Girona region - one of the most beautiful regions in all of northern Catalonia.

The city of Gerona, near the French border. It is a beautiful city where you get a real feeling for its history just by walking through its ancient streets. Its a walled city which dates back to the Roman period, the old quarter is located within the city walls. The city of Girona has a rich, detailed, and dramatic history. The first inhabitants of the area were the Iberians. Then came the Romans who built a fortification there, which was named Gerunda. After having been occupied by a number of cultures, Girona finally fell under control by the Holy Roman Empire. In the 12 th century, the Jewish community flourished in Girona , and a major Kabbalistic school was built. However, the Catholic kings drove the Jews away from Spain in 1492. Later on, in the 17 th to 18 th century, Girona fell under siege by the French, and it was conquered by Napoleon in 1809. The walls of the city were destroyed in the 19 th century. Today, the city is a rich heritage site full of historic and cultural beauty.

The most striking characteristic about of the province is undoubtedly its great diversity. From a tourist point of view it can offer a magnificent coastal area -the internationally recognised Costa Brava- as well as a fine mountain region, which is ideal for both tourism and the practice of a wide variety of sports. This balance between coastal and inland scenery, along with a mild climate, helps attract tourists to the province throughout the year.

The coastline
The coastline north of Barcelona, the Costa Brava, is one of the busiest coastlines in northern Spain. White sand beaches, lifeguards on duty, and one restaurant after another makes it a perfect spot for an easy day on the beach. To the north the town of Roses, provides rental of windsurfers, diving equipment etc. However should you prefer something a little quieter, we highly recommend the small village of Cadaques a to the north. This beautiful village build on the rocks around a small bay, is virtually untouched by modern day mass-tourism. And although the are no sandy beaches the water is clearer and perfect for a small snorkelling-trip. Cadaques is also the birth town of Salvador Dali, and was a reuge for painters and jazz-musicians. The small and central square is a beautiful little place for a lunch. The town also has some small very good and cosy seafood restaurants.

Figueres - Dalí
The hometown of one of the worlds most influential surreal artists Salvador Dali- Figueres, is also home of the official Dali museum. This spectacular is a must-see for all visitors in the area. Designed by Dali himself, the museum is a piece of art in itself, on the outside as well as the inside. For extensive info and ticket reservations follow this link http://www.salvador-dali.org/museus/figueres/en_index.html to the official web-side of the museum in English.
