Casa Castor is a cosy rural apartment situated in a corner of the owners' farm, where they breathe horses. The garden offers fully privacy, as it is closed to three sides and the fourth side faces the fields and with a nice glance of the Pyrenees in distance. In 2007 the owners constructed a spectacular "cave-alike" swimming pool, giving you a pleasant shelter at the hot summer days and with a spa-function installed.
The house has 3 bedrooms, two with double beds and one with single beds. Furthermore, there is a bathroom and in one of the rooms, there is a toilet and a zinc. Furthermore, there is a kitchen/common room with stove, freezer/fridge, dining table and a sofa corner with TV. From the kitchen, you have direct access to covered, 1. floor terrace with a fantastic view over the landscape; the perfect place to enjoy your meals. The house is air-conditioned and has WiFi internet connection.
From the terrace, there is a stairway down to the child friendly garden with swings and room for ballgames. The swimming pool, protected with a fence, is situated a few steps down, and it is beautifully integrated in the natural rock, which have always been there. Have a plunge or sit on the underwater bench and enjoy the aqua-massage. In the far end of the garden, there is another covered terrace with table and barbecue.
Casa Castor is a perfect play to relax in the fresh air or as point of departure to explore Catalonia.

The Costa Brava/Catalonia region
With more than 300 sunny days a year, Catalonia is "the sunny side of the Pyrenees". Being in the central part of Catalonia, you can take advantage of the outdoor activities in the Pyrenees or visit one of Europe's most attractive cities Barcelona.
If you go a bit south, you will enter the famous wine district Penedes and if you go north, you can visit the historical towns of Besalú or Olot, visit the vulcanos or follow in the footprint of Dalí, by visiting one or more of the three museums showing his very uniquel art.
Best of all, however, is the relaxing atmosphere of central Catalunya, distant from Costa Brava's mass tourism, you simply blend into the life in the villages and towns, where the Catalans meet you with warm helpfulness... and bad English skills :-)

Bergueda / Casseres area
The region Berguedá where the house is situated, where the Llobregat river makes its way from the Pyrenees down towards Barcelona. The landscape is hilly and the altitude is 500-600 metres above sea-level. Although very popular as weekend retreat for people from Barcelona, the region has not a lot of tourism. When you are on vacation here, you simply blend in and participate in the local life in the villages and towns in the area.
In the villages of Casserres and Montmajor, you vill find a bakery a small grocery shop a bar and a restaurant. The two small towns Gironella and Puig Reig are situated on the bank of the Llobregat river. Here, you find several restaurants, shops and smaller supermarkets. They are both very lively towns, but be aware of the siesta. The regional capitol is Berga, which is a big town with 20.000 inhabitants. Here, you find a charming town centre with walking street and rambla, shops, restaurants and cafés, and in the outskirts, there are some big supermarkets for large shopping. Also, Berga has a very good tourist office, which is a very good point of departure for the vacation in the area.
The region is great for outdoor activities, walks, cycling, canoeing and many other things, and the location centrally in Catalonia, gives you the perfect base for a varied vacation, from the nature in the Pyrenees to the cultural experiences in Barcelona and the big towns of the area.

How to get there
It is very easy to get to the house. There are three Airports nearby: Girona Airport (100 km.), Reus Airport (100 km.), Barcelona Airport (90 km.). This summer, the extension of C-16 will be completed and the trip to Barcelona Airport will only take 1 hour (dependent of the traffic around Barcelona).
