About the home

The country house is dated from the 17th century and is newly fully restored. The furniture in the house are all beautifully preserved which brings out a very unique atmosphere. It contains all modern facilities and the feeling of luxury is combined by the beautiful surroundings, the antique interior design & the classic and very nicely restoration. The outdoor facilities are perfect for children. The perfect base for relaxation and a place you love to return to after a long day discovering the many sights and activities in Catalonia. The house is situated only 2,5 from the small, lively town Gironella.

Conditions

40% deposit paid in advance within 8 days after reservation.
By cancellation more than 1 1/2 month before 50% of the deposit will be refunded. By cancellation less than 1 1/2 month before, the deposit will not be refunded.
The price includes: electricity, heating, linen, towels and the final cleaning be departure.

The Costa Brava/Catalonia region

The house which is an authentic Catalan limestone villa, modernised with respect for the original style, is situated in the Bergueda region, where the Llobregat-river winds it is way from the mountains down toward Barcelona. The house provides a perfect base for relaxation. Read a book, take a swim in the pool and enjoy the hot summer nights on the terrace with a glass of the local cava or red wine from the nearby Penedes district.

The landscape at the entrance to the Pyrenees is dominated by small rivers, hills, fields and forest, which provides excellent conditions for a variety of sports- and outdoor activities, such as hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, angling, canoeing, river crafting or perhaps a visit to the owners farm.

Furthermore the central location in Catalonia makes every corner of province accessible in one-day excursions. From the Dali-museum in the north, the Costa Brava coastline and Barcelona in the south and further south Tarragon with its amphitheatre and universal studios amusement park for the kids. A generous and cosy region, with true cultural, gastronomical, artistic, historical, traditional and legendary treasures. Also a region for the playful who loves sport activities.

In the winter, the ski-resorts in Andorra and the Pyrenees is only a 45 minutes drive away. In the summer you can enjoy the tracks of the Pyrenees or for the adventures paragliding or climbing.
The spring (march-may) in Catalonia is sunny, green and comfortable warm. The daily temp. reaches 16-22 degrees.

The autumn (Sep.-Nov) is very warm in the beginning (Sep.) with a daily average temp. reaching 27 degrees. October and November has an average temp. starting at 22 in October ending with 17 in November.

Distances: Barcelona 95 km. - Costa Brava 110 km. - Andorra 100 km - shops and restaurants: 3 km. - Beach 100 km.

Gironella: 2,5 km from Casa Pies Cortos
A cosy little town at the bank of the river Llobregat. We provide a map of shops, restaurants and good places to shop for grocery

Berga:12 km. from Casa Pies cortos:
Quite a large town on the edge of the
Pyrenees, where you’ll find big supermarkets, really nice restaurants,
shopping areas, and bars. It is also a very pretty town with many really
good sites.

Manresa: 30 km. from Casa Pies Cortos
The largest nearby town with 66.879 inh. By experiencing the history of Manresa, you will also experience the history of Cataloniaas they both coincided in their moments of greatest splendour. Manresais a town which
has been shaped by its three most intense historic moments: . There are plenty of restaurants, bars and discothèques in Manresa.

Vic:40 km from Casa Pies cortos
A beautiful maintained historical town., also mentioned as the most Catalan town in Catalonia. Traditional Market on the Main Square: every Tuesday and Saturday in the morning (10-14) (See photo J) The town has plenty of discothèques and bars that the young ones can attend.

Barcelona, Girona and Costa Brava is all situated around 100 km. from the house. We are willing to pass on our tips regarding these cities if you should be interested.

Everybody has now returned home after our stay at Casa Pies Cortos.
It has, in any way, been a really lovely stay, where we also got to know this little corner of Spain, and we really fell the need of exploring more of Catalonia. It might not be next year, but we will definitely be back in a couple of years.
Our host was extremely kind and they were very interested in getting to know, how it went with our arrangement with our private chef (half of our dinners) Livia. We could tell them, that it went great. We had some interesting conversations regarding the menu of the day and not at least what she had in mind serving the next day. She served 3 dishes meals, really lovely traditional meals and she was always smiling.
The visit at the Michelin restaurant was fantastic. We worked hard at trying to find the wine they were serving, but it did not succeed. It would have been great to have brought some back to Denmark.
The house it self was great. The situation was beautiful, the wine fantastic and inexpensive, the boule court difficult and the one in Gironella was perfect. Even though everybody did not end up being champions, they were all very satisfied.
