Situated in the heart of the wine making region of the Dordogne, the house is surrounded by numerous vineyards where you can sample a variety of local wines and become familiar wth the wine making process and the area's history. Enjoy a 'degustation' with our caretakers Maurice and Hugette Tricou or at Chateau Belingard where you can have an informative and entertaining tour conducted in English.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region
This region of France enjoys a warm summer climate with average temperatures of between 20 and 30 degrees centigrade. Criss-crossed by wide slow rivers cutting through limestone valleys riddled with caves , many of which contain pre - historic paintings, most notably those at Les Eyzies, the beautiful and peaceful countryside is dotted with fairytale chateaux and picturesque medieval towns and villages. Local markets, advertised in the 'Sud Ouest' paper, provide opportunities to sample and buy local produce. In addition to wine, this area is also renowned for truffles, walnuts, duck, goose and foi gras. .
Bergerac area
Bergerac, (10 kms), the nearest large town, has a variety of excellent coffee bars and restaurants and a wide range of shops and daily boat trips along the Dordogne river. The busy Saturday market has stalls selling local produce, clothes and household items, and at the Sunday market in the 'old town' ,you can browse among a variety of stalls selling both large and small antique household items. Other local morning markets well worth a visit include Ste. Foy La Grande (Sat) ,Eymet (Thurs),and Issegeac (Sun).Don't miss out on a visit to the night market at Monbazillac where you can enjoy 'moules and frites' and sample a selection of local produce. Between Bergerac and St.Foy Le Grande, (15 mins drive from the house), there is a large shopping complex with a Le Clerc supermarket and petrol station, restaurants, and a variety of large stores and small shops selling clothes, shoes, toys and household goods. Sigoules (4kms) the nearest small town has a well stocked Shoppi,a bar/restaurant, a pharmacy, a newsagent, a bank and a Boulangerie. The property is ideally placed to visit the regions many tourist attractions, notably the fairytale chateau at Monbazillac, the Bastide towns and the famous pre-historic caves at Les Eyzies. For fishing enthusiasts, the Dordogne river is nearby, and for those interested in golfing ,a short drive away is the well known Chateau des Vigiers golf complex and there are two excellent less expensive courses at Miramont and Marmande.
