Fongrive Haut is an elegant and delightfully restored farmhouse with its own private pool, sun terraces and patios. It is spacious and offers very comfortable accommodation for family groups or friends holidaying together. It is well-equipped and will satisfy all your needs for a lovely holiday. The house has about one acre of garden together with sun terraces and patios that have delightful and extensive views.
There are 3 bedrooms comprising of two doubles and one twin. In addition, there is a cot and high chair and a bed settee in the 2nd reception room. The house has an en-suite facility, a family bathroom and a separate WC. There is an elegant lounge and a games/TV room.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region
Fongrive is situated on a country lane just outside the the hamlet of Thenac in the south west Dordogne. The countryside around the house is noted for its rolling hills cultivated with vines and plum trees and dotted with Chateaux and Bastide Towns. The house has lovely, extensive views to the south, east and west.
The nearest large village is Sigoules with a bakery, supermarket, chemist, hairdressers, post office and doctors’ surgery. There is a wine festival in Sigoules that usually takes place in the second week of July.
The towns of Bergerac, Eymet, Duras and St Foy La Grande are all close by.
Bergerac / Eymet area
Markets: There are markets to go to virtually every day of the week.
Walks: There are three designated walks that start in Thenac and many more in the area.
Eating: There are several restaurants within easy distance of the house offering meals to suit every budget from basic local to gourmet eating. There is a guide to all our local establishments at the house.
Dordogne Boat trip: You can explore the Dordogne River in a traditional gabare boat from Bergerac.
Wine Route: Red, white and rose are all produced locally and the Route de Vin is an established route around the local vineyards where you are encouraged to sample the local produce.
Golf: An excellent 18-hole golf course at Chateau des Vigiers is a 10 minute drive away. There are 4 golf trolleys at the house.
Canoeing: There is no better way to experience the beauty and tranquillity of the Dordogne Valley and its tributaries than by hiring a canoe and paddling various distances, depending on how the mood takes you.
Other activities within 30 to 60 minutes drive are: Go-karting, ten pin bowling, pre-historic caves, bastide towns and general sight seeing with such towns as Arcachon (with its beaches), Bordeaux, St Emilion, Sarlat, Brantome etc., that are all waiting to be visited.
How to get there
Bergerac Airport is 30 minutes away and is served by Flybe and Ryanair flying from many regional airports in the UK. Bordeaux Airport is 90 minutes away and is served by British Airways, Easyjet, Flybe and other UK airlines. All the major car hire firms operate from these two airports with full details on the airport websites. There are good motorway links to the Dordogne from the channel ports and the house is approximately 550 miles from Calais, 450 miles Le Havre/Caen or 350 from St Malo.

Further details indoors: The house is equipped to a very high standard. The spacious farmhouse kitchen/dining area is the hub of the house and the dining table is able to seat up to 10 persons comfortably.
The elegant lounge has a log fire and comfortable seating. The second reception room is dual aspect and has a library, a number of games, satellite TV, DVD and further seating.
Both ground floor bedrooms are dual aspect with double beds and the tower bedroom is twin-bedded.
Further details outdoors: The house has extensive patios and terraces to the east, south and west all with extensive and delightful views. The evening sunsets are stunning.
There is ample garden furniture for sitting around and dining alfresco.
There are countryside walks that can start and finish at the house.

The swimming pools is open from May until early October and is 1.25 metres in depth throughout.
All guests receive a Welcome Pack on arrival and local English speaking house managers can be contacted if any problems arise.
Conditions
Bookings in peak summer season are Saturday to Saturday. Outside this period the owners are able to be more flexible.
20% deposit required at time of booking with balance payable six weeks before departure
All prices include electricity, water and gas. Central Heating is not normally provided from May to end September.
