Maroy has been tastefully restored and furnished to a very high standard.It has four very large bedrooms,three bathrooms,a main salon, T.V. room and a fully equipped and modernised kitchen.All of the rooms are light and spacious with either terracotta tiled or polished wood floors and carpeted with luxurious woollen Chinese or Indian rugs.
The exterior of the property benefits from pretty lawns, various fruit and deciduous trees, palms,magnolia, wisteria and ,many other flowering shrubs and plants.The 10m x 5m "Roman" stepped pool enjoys a lovely terrace and decking area which can be floodlit for use on warm summer evenings.A barbecue area is also sited near to the pool and house.
Peaceful open countryside adjacent to the property offers countless walks through woods, fields, orchards and vineyards. There is an abundance of wildlife and birds.You could catch a glimpse of wild boar, deer, red squirrels, beech martens, or summer migrants from Africa such as the Golden Oriole and Hoopoes.
Further afield you can explore the countless number of local vineyards,visit the world famous wine centre of St Emilion or the bustling market towns of Bergerac, Ste Foy La Grande or Castillion La Bataille. Bordeaux and the Medoc coast is an hour and one and half hour's drive respectively, not forgetting also that Maroy is on the doorstep of the Dordogne and its many attractive Bastide towns.

Further details
Maroy is a non smoking property. We do not allow pets. Our letting days are Saturday to Saturday and we ask guests to vacate by 10 a.m. on the morning of departure. Incoming guests are requested to arrive after 4 p.m.
Conditions
A deposit of 25% is required upon booking with the balance payable two months before commencement of the holiday.

The area around Maroy is famous for its dry and sunny micro climate which encourages and enriches the growing of vines for the production of some of the most acclaimed wines in the world. (St Emilion is only 12 km away, a 15 minute drive by car through picturesque orchards and vineyards.).
In a westerly direction you quickly reach the Dordogne an area known to all for its panoramic views, its warm, mild climate, a culturally diverse history and many interesting places to visit.
The Bergerac / Ste Foy la Grande area
On a Saturday morning the nearest town of Ste Foy La Grande holds one of the best weekly markets in France. Astride the world famous river Dordogne it sits at the gateway to a region where tourists come from all over the world to enjoy the summer months. Local markets at Castillion La Bataille( Monday) and Bergerac (Wednesday) also offer a fine array of locally produced food, fruit and vegetables and many other products.
The local town of Gensac( 2.5 kms) is well serviced by a mini supermarket, two boulangeries,a pharmacy, newsagent, two doctors surgeries,three restaurants,two bars and two municipal tennis courts.
At various times of the year many of the local towns and villages (even vineyards) hold fetes or soirees to which all comers are welcome.

The house is okay, although not near as nice as the description and pictures makes it out to be. However, what is more serious is that the owner demands a GBP500 "bond" as a deposit for any damages you may make. However, he does not return this "bond" and so your rental becomes much more expensive than you expect ! So, our advise is - stay away. Response: The client's bond was returned albeit later than stated in the conditions simply due to the fact that the owner had been undergoing cancer treatment. |
