The independent, ground floor self-contained accommodation consists of 2 bedrooms (one double, one twin), luxury shower room, fully fitted kitchen, dining room and sitting room which leads out onto a covered terrace with outstanding views of the walnut orchard, private gite garden and private beautiful saltwater swimming pool with roman steps. There is a covered terrace by the swimming pool for relaxing, dining or preparing food on the BBQ.
The gite and its private garden and its own pool is surrounded by 17 acres of gardens and woodland, yet is still within walking distance of Castillonnes, a medieval 'bastide' village, where there is a weekly market, a feature of the village since 1259. There are also a range of services, bars, restaurants, swimming pool, tennis courts, trotting race hippodrome, aerodrome and a nearby swimming lake.

As well as a family-sized shower room including toilet, there is an independant toilet. The gite is equipped with a radio and CD player, the twin bedroom also has a radio/alarm clock with built-in i-Pod player. Pool towels are also supplied for guests.
Fully equipped kitchen, including all clearning/washing supplies. The bathroom contains a basket of 'goodies' - toiletries that you may not be able to bring through in hand luggage if you are flying!

Private covered parking and private driveway. Outside games include table tennis, badminton/soft tennis, croquet and boules.

Owners live onsite in main farmhouse, accommodation is attached but fully independant.
Owners there to meet you on arrival, with complimentary welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk, sugar, juice, bread, butter, and wine.
We can arrange to supply your first shopping if you are arriving late, or a light meal, just e-mail your requirements.

Conditions

Property not recommended for children under 5 years of age as there are two ponds on the property, security alarm in place on the swimming pool

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region

Le Berme is situated on the border of the Dordogne and Lot-et-Garonne, the 'Tuscany of France'. The area is well known for its hot summer climate, stunning countryside, vineyards, chateaux, medieval hilltop villages with their lively markets, brocants and summer fairs, and of course the local gastronomical specialities of foie gras, duck, prunes and the locally produced domaine wines. There are championship standard golf courses within 1/2 hour's drive.
Le Berme offers a truly relaxing holiday in stunning landscaped gardens surrounded by woodland with many rare varieties of trees. Le Berme borders a 'grande randonnee' or pilgrims' route, a well trodden path stretching from Belgium to Spain offering a number of marked routes for walking, horseriding or cycling. There is an abundance of wildlife including deer, red squirrels, green frogs and a variety of birds; hoopoe, red kite, eagle, buzzards, woodpeckers and our own resident long eared owls (Sep-April)

The Bergerac / Castillonnes, Bergerac area

The pretty Bastide villages of Monpazier, Issigeac, Eymet, Monflanquin are all less that 20 mins drive away. Bergerac with its array of shops, restaurants, vineyards, museums and other places of interest 20 mins away by car.
The Dordogne with its beautiful villages and historic sights, canoeing is easily accessible

We are 21 kms from Bergerac airport, serviced by low cost airlines Ryanair and Flybe, from Southampton, Leeds, Exeter, Bristol, East Midlands, London Gatwick and London Stansted.
1 1/2 hours from Bordeaux, and 2 hours from Toulouse airports for flights with British Airways and Air France.
Train routes from Paris/Bordeaux/Bergerac.

“We found the perfect hideaway” Set in acres of beautiful grounds where wildlife came to your doorstep. Le Berme is the most preaceful and pretty gite we have ever stayed in. The pool was fabulous and the interior of the gite was comfortable and clean with very comfortable beds and all amenities. Gerry and Steve were the perfect hosts, hospitable and helpful without being intrusive. Wonderful area for exploring chateaus and finding pretty bastide villages with their beautiful cobbled streets and individual shops. I cannot find a bad word to say about Le Berme, we found it to be perfect in every way. You must have a car though to make the most of the surrounding area.
