LA COLOMBIERE is ideally suited for family holidays, reunions, conferences, weddings, parties etc and is set amidst the beautiful vine growing area of the Dordogne. There is as much or as little as one wants to do, whethers its an action packed holiday, a cultural holiday, a wine tasting holiday or just a completely relaxing holiday you are looking for. If you get fed up lazing by the pool with its large extended terrace, then just kick a ball with the kids on the small pitch. For the really energetic we have a selection of bikes available (small charge) to explore the surrounding interesting local area. Whatever your tastes La Colombiere is the perfect location to access the traditional style of French living.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region

La Colombiere is set amongst the vineyards between the rivers Dordogne and Garonne and surrounded by the historic Bastide towns associated with the 100 year war. Fokelore says the first shot of this conflict was fired in the little hamlet of Puyguilheim not 1 mile away from this house. The area has an abundance of wine tasting chateaux, restaurants and cafes to suit every taste and budget and history to be marvelled at. We have a temperate climate here in the Bergerac area although the summers can be extremely hot.

Bergerac / Eymet area

From June to September there is a wall to wall entertainment in the guise of fairs, fetes and festivals too numerous to list. We can only promise you that you will never be at a loss of finding something to do or somewhere to go. Most villages have a tourist office which is an excellent source of information and up to date details of organised activities. Our nearest small town is Eymet, which can only be described as beautifully French. It has a Bastide square where every single building is different and charming. Thursday is market day and is a must for visitors, so different is it from markets elsewhere. Bergerac is our nearest large town which is also a definite must for visitors. Bergerac has everthing to offer; it's new part is vibrant, colourful and busy with shops of every description. The old majestic buildings tower above their shoppers and there is a magnificent fountain in front of the Palais du Justice. In contrast the old town with it's cobbled streets, ancient, tilting buildings has an ambiance which will charm all who care to meander leisurely. There are restaurants at every turn to suit every taste and the River Dordogne is just a two minute walk. Whether you enter Bergerac over the old bridge or the new bridge you will be so pleased you visited this old, old town.

Ryanair or Flybe to Bergerac ( Nearest airport) BMI baby to Bordeux (1hr 30mins) Ryanair to Limoge(2hrs 30mins) DRIVE; cheapest crossing from UK by Jet Ferries Dover to Bologne.WELL signposted A16 just out of the port,to route you either by Paris(Ameins) or Rouen(Le Mans)either route will take you to Perigueux,then onto Bergerac then N933 toFonfoque and St Innocence

* Barbecue area is conveniently situated outside kitchen and has a canopy for those very hot,sunny days.
* Child friendly site with swings, sand pit and, of course large 12 x 6 metre pool.
* Pool surrounded by conifers for extra privacy.
* Rear entrance to the gite leads into the garden
* Pool area has recently been extended.
* Poolside small "summer kitchen" for preparation of snacks.
* Plastic plates/cutlery/glass only by pool (plenty supplied)
* Loungers provided.
* Large poolside towels available (small charge)

Further details

The separate play barn houses table tennis, a small snooker/pool table, table football, two computer consoles(small charge for bats, snooker balls and snoooker cues, computer games). Also bike hire available.

Conditions

A security bond is required in the sum of £250. This is to cover possible damage or breakage to expensive items such as white goods, beds, furniture, etc. The bond is to be paid at the same time as the balance and will be refunded when a full inspection has been carried out. The bond will be posted back to the client within 48 of their departure. Should breakages come to light after the clients have vacated the premises, the security bond will be kept and a quotation received for the full amount of repair. Any monies outstanding will be payable forthwith from the client.
