Situated in the lot-et-garonne, close to the Dordogne border, this stunning property was carefully and lovingly restored in early 2004. It retains many original features, including oak beams and exposed stonewalls, and is decorated to a very high standard throughout. It is an extremely spacious property, comfortably housing 10 people. There are 2 double bedrooms and 3 twin bedrooms, with a cot and additional travel cot available on request. You will never feel cramped! Set in one and a half hectares of private land, it boasts a huge west facing terrace overlooking a secluded swimming pool. The house is set in a beautiful location, surrounded by fields in every direction. There are no direct neighbours and one is very much 'by themselves'. The surrounding area belongs to the local farmer, if any noise or movement is seen, it is most probably in the form of cow wandering into a nearby field! If one does feel like company, they can follow a path up to the farm, where they will find the farmer's mother selling fresh eggs.
Nearby are the charming bastide market towns of Eymet and Castillonnes, along with the international 'chateau des vigiers' golf course, just half an hours drive away. Other nearby activities include canoeing, horse riding, fishing and go-karting, along with a wealth of medieval market towns, chateaux and vineyards all of which deserve a visit.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region
'Grandbuc is set on the borders of the Lot-et-Garonne and the Dordogne. The area boasts a load of activities. There are numerous beautiful bastide towns within half an hours drive away which are always worth a visit, if just to wonder around. All of these towns have a market once a week, selling anything from fresh produce to clothes. A number of them also have a weekly night market in the summer months. These are well worth a visit, and joining in with the hustle and bustle of the locals is always entertaining!
For the more active there are two gold courses nearby as mentioned below, along with tennis and canoeing. There is also an excellent riding stables 10 minutes walk away, which caters for all abilities with very well-behaved horses of all shapes and sizes! The area also offers donkey cart rides and go-karting - children will not get bored! And for the adults, there are numerous places to carry out the obligatory wine tasting!
Bergerac / Eymet area
GOLF - Situated approximately 35 minutes drive away is the international golf course 'Chateaux les Vigiers'. Set amidst plum trees, oak woods, lakes and vineyards it boasts a superb 18 hole par 72 golf course and driving range. Visitors are welcome, and golfers with a minimum of 36 handicap can play with clubs, trolleys and electric carts for hire. It also has 6 covered and 6 open air driving ranges, a putting green, a chipping green and a practice bunker - clearly making it a suitable club for all standards.
For those who wish to abstain from the golf, there is a new health and beauty spa consisting of a gym, sauna, jacuzzi and steam bath and, once tired of that, there are two fantastic restaurants! Also nearby Grandbuc (approximately 20 minutes drive away) is the less expensive 'Golf de Barthe' golf course. This is a 9 hole par 36 course set in a rural oasis surrounded by farms, fields and rolling countryside. It is a challenging course with a mix of undulating fairways, small lakes, water hazards, doglegs, trees and woods. There is a pleasant club house selling drinks, snacks and lunches. There is also club hire, cart hire and trolley hire. Both courses come highly recommended, and make for a fun day out for all.
How to get there
The property is situated 25 minutes drive from Bergerac airport, which is served by both Ryanair and Flybe airlines. Ryanair has daily flights departing from London Stansted, Bristol, Liverpool, Edinburgh, East Midlands and Brussels airport. Flybe also has regular flights, departing from London Gatwick, Birmingham, Exeter and Southampton airports. Alternatively, Bordeaux airport is approximately one and a half hours by car. Both French airports offer a good car hire service.

The property is furnished to a high standard, with all rooms having hanging facilities, bedside tables and a chest of drawers. The property has all mod cons necessary to make you feel 'home from home'. All bed linen and towels are included in the rental price, aiming to give you a hassle free holiday. Dial-up internet access is available on request.
Further details outdoors: Grand Buc is set in an exceptionally quiet and rural location. The private swimming pool is set within 1 1/2 acres of private land. There are plenty of comfortable sunbeds for all ten people to rest by the pool. A large (50m2) west facing terrace over looks the swimming pool, lending itself to either keeping a watchful eye over the children or/and a much deserved glass of wine in the evening whist watching beautiful sunsets.
Further details
All prices are per week from Sunday to Sunday and are quoted in pounds sterling. Guests can arrive after 4pm and should vacate the property by 10am on the day of departure. Prices include all bed linen, bath towels and pool towels which are changed weekly. Electricity, hot water and final cleaning are also all included in the rental price. Bookings are confirmed on receipt of a 20% deposit and full payment is required 8 weeks prior to arrival. A security deposit of £200 is required prior to arrival and is fully returned after the end of the holiday period subject to the property being checked and approved by the maintenance company. Please ensure that you are fully insured against cancellation.
