Built on the site of a 15th century château, Missandre has been restored with great care and attention to detail and comfort. Situated between the Dordogne and Gascony, Missandre is a place where you can relax by the pool, ride through the glorious countryside, explore the bastide towns and mediaeval villages... MISSANDRE has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, a veritable little paradise for family holiday. There are 2 bedrooms with double beds, 2 twin-bedded rooms and 3 bathrooms. The tiles floor and natural stone walls and beams give it lots of charm and character and there is a large private terrace, near the pool. You can relax peacefully : sun beds and garden furniture/parasols... surrounded by beautiful nature.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region
The medival hilltop bastide towns and villages of Saint Pastour, Penne d'Agenais, Pujols, Monflanquin, Monbazillac, Saint-Emilion, Sarlat and Bergerac, where you can linger over a long lunch or a quiet drink, burst into life on market days when you can buy fresh locally grown fruits and vegetables, cheese and wine. This is a vast rural area of south west France with a warm climate, 25 to 38'c in summer, with wide rivers, sunflower fields and farms. Local farms produce wine for sale but the famous Bergerac, Buzet, Duras, Monbazillac, Saint Emilion and Bordeaux wines are just next door. Local delicacies : Foie Gras, duck confit, magret, ceps, truffles, fresh fish, oysters and shell fish, prunes...
Bergerac area
On the spot : riding activity, pool and ping-pong. Tennis,courts and two golf courses, 9 and 18 holes, are less than 10 kms away and there are lakes and a nautical centre, where you can fish, swim, canoe, boat hire and cruises on the River Lot and the Canal du Midi. There are sport parks and Walibi for children , tree top assualt courses, 30 mn drive. Sauna and Hamam, gym, retail therapy, are also nearby. Nearest town is Villeneuve sur Lot, 15 kms. Castles, chateaux, picturesque villages, caves, galleries, music festivals, markets are a few more things to do on holiday. The nearest village, Monclar d'Agenais, is the home of a small theatre company directed by Roger Louret, which produces several musical and theatre festivals, french cabaret evenings, throughout the year. Local shops 4 kms. Food and the good things of life are part of this rich and fertile valley and there are many restaurants ranging from simple to gastronomic. This area is also a world largest prune provider.

Fly to Bergerac airport 45 kms (35mn), car hire at airport, cheap flights Ryanair and Flybe. Bordeaux and Toulouse airports 125 kms, all major airlines, cheap flights bmybaby/midlands. Car hire, train, taxi. Nearest train SNCF Tonneins 15 kms. TGV Bordeaux or Agen. Autoroute du Sud (motorway) nearest exit Agen/Marmande 45 mns.drive, exit Cahors 75 mn drive.

Further details outdoors: - The great (15x7m) swimming pool is surrounded by a large beach and only shared by guests of our 2 gites. - Ping pong and VTT facilities. - Numerous trails where you can browse on horseback, or cycle and walk. - The Equestrian Centre has professional and an experienced instructor, who will plan and accompany riders of every level of expertise on treks through this lovely region, from as little as an hour or a morning to a day or longer. Classes are available to all riders. - Tennis courts and two golf courses, are less than 10 kms away. There are wide rivers, lakes and a nautical centre, where you can fish, swim, canoe and boat hire and cruises on the River Lot and the Canal du Midi. - Car Parking
